Good call! Like we mentioned in the video, this is a bit of a temp fix, until the coil overs go on. The owner has just ordered some downpipes, so we will have a video on fitting them shortly too.

Unfortunately neither my black 335i or this MHD tuned tuned grey one has an LSD. It's something i really need to get sorted, but i'm not sure which way i want to go. Whether i should do a full M3 rear end conversion, or just a new diff centre to suit. Both cars have the small housing diffs as well. Have you got any thoughts on which way to go?

Sorry for the late reply. If you are replacing the shock, yeah just clamp the shaft with something. If you are re-using the shock, i wouldn't do that it may damage the shaft, thats all. This car it actually came loose just with a spanner on the top, so it was nice and easy.

I jacked up the control arm in case the spring was still putting force on the shock. Didn’t want to risk anything going twang as we undid the shock bolts. However this particular car on msport springs didn’t have any tension on the spring with the wheel at full droop. But it’s probably worth being safe. I thought I mentioned the bump stops in the vid but it was a few months ago. They do sit either at the top of bottom of the visible part of the shock shaft. Doesn’t matter if it’s the top or bottom. But they really should be there.

Most likely anything that goes in a 330i or 328i. It might raise the car also and it wont look as low as stock for a 335i.

I better just confirm, as some people dont realise. This one isnt my car, the car getting the turbos is the black one. However, got the walbro in today, just editing that video. Once i know the car is running on full e85 with the stock turbos, it will be time for the hybrids to go on. Hopefully the next couple of weeks should be done. Hopefully.

It could be seized in place. Or tension on it from the control arm. Have you had any luck yet?

Could be the shock or event the shock mount. But then also any of the rear suspension bushes. Squeaks can be a pain to figure out

You could be right. The replacement had significantly more dampening than the one coming out. I wasn't sure what sort of pressure these had new. I've seen some where the pressure wont always displace the shaft anyway. They are such a cheap crappy shock, i assumed they were just an emulsion shock where you are fighting an uphill battle with cavitation anyway. As mentioned in the vid, not a proper fix, but something that was better than what was original fitted for very little money.

Dylan is in 2 minds about the cheap coil over kits. They may be awesome. But he doesn't want to risk getting one that might be too stiff, or have fitment issues. Where he knows if he spends $1500-$2000 he will get something that will be perfect.

If anyone has any thoughts on cheaper coil over kits, who has actually used them leave a comment and let us know. I might be keen to try a set on my black 335.

Have you tried loosening the shock while the car is on the ground?
