dude I’m not even gonna lie, I was so skeptical about this video. I was like there’s no way this will work. I was driving on the highway and shifted into 5th gear and the trans was like so confused and the car like jolted and I thought I completely destroyed the transmission. Drove damn near back to my house which was 20 minutes. Tried this out before I got home and omg. It literally worked, I was in such belief and had to make sure it was real and threw it into manual mode and ripped it and shifted absolutely amazing. I cannot thank you enough bro. The car was driving fine and all of a sudden the warning came on while doing 70mph on the highway and it started slowing down so he had no choice but to pull over on the shoulder. The car was immobile. He called me, I found your video and in about 5 minutes he was on the road again and drove for the next 4 hours to get home!

After my 2015 X3 shows "transmission malfunction...do not shut off the engine but seek help from nearest shop..." alert several times, I was panicky and almost called my BMW dealer to set up an appointment. Before I did that I wanted to make sure what the problem was: e.g. was it really a transmission malfunction? Should I flush my transmission with new transmission fluid? Should I change my battery? Then I found your video. It worked! You save me at least a thousand dollars. You know how expensive to visit BMW dealer especially after warranty expired.

I just tried this and it actually worked. I will say though, I need to investigate what caused this transmission malfunction message to begin with, so for now I’ll look at this as a workaround but it got me off the road. 👍🏼 Follow the steps the video says and it will work for you, as well unless you got a bigger problem.

Worked for my 2008 BMW 550i! It was shifting super hard and that “transmission malfunction” would pop up. Couldn’t even drive a mile before it would act up. Followed the steps and now she runs like normal! I hope life has treated you great my friend! Thanks for the tip!!!

I appreciate you man, this just saved me a bunch of trouble, first battery was down, boosted it, then it was stuck in park. Watched videos on manual disengage on the gear lever but none to reset the transmission that had a red warning light. Great video! For anyone out there like me, this worked on a G05 2019. Symptoms were engine light on, random shifts between manual and regular D, reading lights randomly turning on. It all went away after following steps to reset ECU.

I did exactly what you described in the video, except I only had to press the start button one time after putting the fob in the ignition. Thank you thank thank you this video helped a lot I was completely freaking out because all of the lights came up on the dash but after trying this they all disappeared once I started her back up and started driving.

I have a 2007 BMW X5 as well and my driver side blows out cool AC and my passage side blows out hot and some times none . They both was working fine and I sent my car to the shop to get a serpentine belt put on and when I picked it up they told me about the AC. I have a 2012 335is that transmission suddenly took a shit. Dealership did a fluid change. Basically told me to pray it works. Was fine for a couple weeks. Now the light is back on , car is driving weird. I just did what you showed in your video and I swear I think it fixed it. Fingers crossed!!

You are right if it is an intermittent fault it could be the transmission failing but it can also be the ecu that’s broken my e91 pre lci has an issue where sometimes throws up an airbag fault light my Autel obd2 reader doesn’t want to read it or erase it.

I have just done this procedure on my 2005 530I msport. I was having the trans error come up after driving for 10 minutes or so and going into safe mode or whatever they call it ( limp home mode ) Did this and it cleared it. I have driven it now for about 45 minutes or so. Stopped and started a couple of times. So far so good. Driving perfectly normally now. Hopefully it will stay that way. As I said it would not ever go longer than 10 mins before without error. So, regardless of whether the gearbox turns out later to have a problem, this procedure did work without doubt.

Any idea if this works on F models? Have an F34 going into park whilst sitting at lights. Seems to be activated by start/stop on re-start.

I have the pre-lci model with the steel key and experience the exactly same problems. After you kept the gas pedal for 30 sec and released it, you pushed the start/stop button once. I don´t have a start/stop button, what should I do in that moment? Turn the key quick without pressing the brake? Or does this technique work only with the lci key fob and not yhe older version?

I had the same issue on a 2011 750i xdrive with only 65000 miles, though, mine goes away right after you drive it, it comes on after every 2 drives and turning off the car no matter whether you drive it for 2 miles or 20 miles, it never comes on while driving, it is very strange. However, i did your rest trick today, and it was still on after I turned the car back on. Now I am not sure if the rest is going to prevent it from coming back after every couple drives, also it shifts smooth all the time, well because the fault goes a way right when i start driving, any thoughts? 😊 🙏
