This BMW g11 7 series has a problem with GPS reception does not see the location and with Emergency Call System, after a diagnosis it was found that the TCB module is defective, it has been replaced coded and now everything works perfectly

Great video, love your work.. Had the warning come up on my G11, only 4yrs old. Bought the battery from the stealer at £64. Thought I'd have a go.. Managed to just remove the plastic panel at the rear and gain access to the battery door, (after watching your vid), didn't have to remove the headliner.. Swaped out in 5mins. Error went away and we're all good. Took appart the old battery pack and it's only a couple of small 3.7v Lithium batts and controller, tested on my charger and both look in good condition. (2 of these - PLM-EVE 450mAH). Just for the info in case anyones interested..

Dealer quoted me $1300 to replace battery, said its 5hrs labor, major ripOFF! I'm going to try to tackle this myself on my G12.

Thank you for the video! Dealership estimated $590 plus tax to replace SOS battery after watching your video I replaced myself. Saved $500 😀 But message still on the dashboard we’re said (Emergency call malfunction) I may have to clear the code.

Wow, got this message on my 19 x5 and it seems it the same problem with water damage and dealers charging over $3k to replace the module and antenna when it looks like a design fault with the seal and placement of the unit.

Awesome video mate! Thank you!! You saved me dealer cost here in FLORIDA $1300 for easy battery replacement. Just pulled down cover plate safely not breaking tabs, released the battery flap, reset error code with bimmerlink and wallah, easy swap for 750ix.🙌

Hey! Thanks for your appreciation! You didn't watch the complete video, I said that after this, the car will be sent to a different shop to replace the adhesive of the antenna cover ! The damage was done by the person who wrapped the car

I have a 2018 X1 with the "SOS system malfunction" light displayed on the dash. My phone and GPS still work, so I'm hoping it just needs the battery replaced and there's no water damage. I've read about the potential for water damage from a faulty seal at the base of the shark fin antennae. I just ordered the new battery the other day. Fingers crossed. While I have it apart I will see if there's anything I can do to shore up the seal at the base of the antennae as well.

Thanks for your video and fantastic work. I will try by myself in my g31 with a second hand tcb. Could you tell me how long for encoding with ISTA? it seems tedious in some videos I saw. I also watched other of your videos with the same problem and you used E-sys.could you let me know if it is faster and easyer than ISTA? Also, my understanding is that when you use the second hand module you can not get access to bmw online, is that correct? Is there any way to get around it?

Same issue here on a G30. I put a wrap on the roof. I think water might of gone inside through the shark fin. Recently the GPS is not working and I have the emergency call misfunction code in my car. How much does it cost to replace the whole thing?

te salut, am aceiasi problema la un G30 si am inteles ca nu se poate inlocui cu un modul sh pentru ca voi pierde aplicatia de pe telefon si va functiona doar navigarea, am inteles ca acel modul vine cu un Sim incorporat si nu poate fi utilizat pe alta masina, tu ce stii merge cu un modul sh sau trebuie unul nou care va fi programat pe masina pentru a putea folosi in contiunuare aplicatia? si tu aici in video ai remediat erorile dar problema pe unde intra apa cum ai remediato?

So it seems like the shark antenna on the roofs have a common problem of leaking water into the electronics? BMW should know better.

99% of cases the problems are created by some specialist* this car for example it is wrapped ( the car is black )

Hello, if you want to use the connected drive you need a NEW module, the used one has the IMEI from the donor vehicle, and if that one didn't have this service active you won't have it anymore.

Hello, I have shown you how I replace it , this is not a DIY , the water is entered from the shark fin antenna cover, the car was wrapped and they didn't mount correctly back the cover

good work. I have exact the same problem on my new 2022 X5. It is sad I just got the car. I scheduled visit with BMW dealer to resolve this. They are saying it is only the battery. I think it’s not because I lost gps, sat radio and etc. You are not mentioning anything to reseal shark fin antenna. You just replacing he module it self. At some point it will happen again. Can you please advise why you are not resealing roof shark fin antenna ? Thank you !!

But only a couple of minutes you might listen to him you realize that he want to make as much money as possible throwing at the rest of us scary crap about bmw, exagerating! Please do not do that, because you will go on the IGNORED side of YT, form my perspective at least.. In a mean time I do not mind paying couple of private lessons online in coding a bloody BMW... or videos of you coding and explaining the whole process, tools needed, everything. You can sell (send links) to those interested.

I have problem with g31 2017 emergency call malfunction msg on instrument cluster, the tester shows battery error do you think is only the battery needs replacing? Ive bought new one but didnt install it i guess procedure is same ive pulled clips in the middle of the headliner behind the antenna but cannot see the tcm module...i guess i have to pull the headliner a bit further down...do i need to reprogram tcm or only reset the error after replacement? I dont have original tester i have bosch

Hello, you need to find someone who repair BMW in your area and see if your module is repairable or need to be replaced, BMW doesn't try to scam you (I'm don't keep them side) but officially and by the book if the module is defective need to be replaced with a new one

I have the exact same issue. I have a stage 2 tune on my 5 series and BMW says in order for them to program the new module it will program the entire car, not just the new module. Is this true? I was told they need to program my vehicle back to stock tune in order to do this. I don't think your BMW was tuned but are you familiar with this?

Hello , I don't know if the car from the video was tuned , officially you need to program the all car , but unofficially you can program and code only that module , search an independent BMW electronics specialist

The roof antena was removed from the car and not sealed correctly back in in this particular case but the roof can make condensation and also this can cause problems

Hi, great video, my f10 tries to make an emergency call when I enter the car once the call fails I can press back and everything works perfectly. Sat nav, bluetooth audio and radio all work and no error messages. Do you have any idea what would be the issue?

Yes it must be resealed, but for in the car in the clip the owner has assumed that he will do the reseal.
