Hi Joe, is this all key lost or add key? Just wondering if you couldn't add key via OBD? Did you have to remove EWS module, even for add key??

Yes EWS has to be removed for add key as well. All keys lost and add key is the same procedure

I am having a hard time with connecting a IM508/XP400pro/APB114 to an EWS-3 module from a 2004 Mini Cooper. I just want to read the module on my bench, but keep getting a “communication error of the programmer. Please check the programmer connection.” But my usb connections, soldered wire, and everything is perfect. Even double checked the soldered wire with a multimeter. I have 12V power supplied. Any thoughts on that?

So, I downloaded the PC software like you recommended. And it looks like the PC software had no issue reading the EWS3 module, unlike the IM508. My goal was to program an additional key to the 2004 Mini Cooper, and now I’m thinking I should just use the PC software. Can you walk me through how to do that please? Can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate your expertise

Hello, no for EWS3 you cannot use APA103. Need the XP400 PRO and the APB114 adapter included in the IMKPA kit

Hi Joe, do you know how to virginize these EWS 3 please. Need to free up some spaces. I have disabled some of the previously used slot, but can't fully free them up. Programmed key, starts vehicle but remote function won't work. Apparently you can only have 4 transmitter program at any one time. I was looking to get a second hand EWS3 , virginize it, then copy and transfer data from original onto donor. Then program a key. Thanks.

Hi Joe, just wondering if you share how to virginize these EWS 3 module please, or free up spaces. There are currently 6 used keys on this module, just add a key, it will start car, but remote function won't work. It is the right remote. Done few of these, and they all work fine, but this E46 just can't the remote function. Customer key fob, remote doesn't work either, got signal from remote.

I’m sorry but you don’t have to do all this. It’s more simple if you’re in the car , take 3 minutes to program a key on cas2 no soldering or taking modules but anyway every one have their own way.

@@kyenwilliams8086 select immo / read vin ( e will detect) / Smart Selection/ all key lost / put new key on the Autel slot / follow instructions (take few seconds to lead new key ) im608 must have latest update and internet

This isn't CAS2 system. Its an EWS system, you cannot do it through obd
