Not sure what you’re relating to but my mom has a 2016 m6 cabriolet and has had zero reliability issues and have never seen any problems of any kind. She’s had it since new in 2016 so I would say we have a decent representation on true ownership.

@@Papaplaytoys as a 6 owner i can second that. I have only seen 2 F×× series and 1 E63 series around my area. Live in a touristy area so I don't think they are local as I have not seen any of them since first spotting each one. And people think I am holding bank because I own one 😂🤣

Pretty solid fitment overall, install is difficult but that's mainly because of the minimal amount of space to work with

"Is the M6 reliable" is a very broad question. BMW has been using the Twin Turbo V8 S63 in its flagship sports cars FOR 13 YEARS. The M6's powertrain is shared in the X5M, X6M (starting in 2009), M5 and the class-leading 2021 M8 Competition. They also use a variant of it (P63) in their race cars. The simple fact that this platform has been used by BMW for 13 years speaks volumes to its reliability and future-proof-ness. If it wasn't reliable, then it wouldn't be in one of 2021's fastest luxury sports cars. BMW M cars improve on their non-M variants by reinforcing and strengthening the powertrain/drivetrain components to handle their additional power. In turn, these forged mechanical improvements enhance reliability drastically. There are several examples of BMW-M versions of motors being EXTREMELY more reliable then their Non-M counterparts. The N63 is a nightmare, but the S63 (M version) is bulletproof. If you leave these cars stock, change all the fluids on time and let them warm up before aggressive throttle inputs, they are reliable as any other economy car. In regards to price? The M6 or S63 platform or any M-Car is going to be NO MORE EXPENSIVE to work on then other $80,000-$130,000 cars. The "expensive to repair" stories come from kids buying 15- year old M cars for pennies on the sticker price realizing the maintenance costs have not depreciated like the car has. It is NOT going to be cheap to work on ANY car that stickered for six figures. Source: I own a 2013 X5M with 90,000 miles that has been as reliable as my wife's 2005 Toyota Camry.

The pre 2013 are but this engine is S65 TU. The predecessor of the S65 is pretty unreliable, with rod bearings, throttle actuator etc but the TU version isn’t to terribly unreliable.

@@paragontau7995 I actually really appreciate the information, I wasn’t bashing the m6 as a bad choice, I just heard things about the 6series and M6 being hard to come by in parts and little aftermarket as well as reliability compared to the S55 engine in the M3/M4. I plan on picking up an M4 but just wasn’t 100 on the M6 as a whole. I REALLY appreciate that correction so thank you

I have my M6 GC for 2years now , FULL Meistershaft GTC exhaust, DME Stage 3 tune , RK Autowerks Carbon intakes , Fabworx Catless DPs , Between 670-680 whp , Car has been super solid my favorite car to date , Aftermarket and parts is sky’s the limit , Doing stage 1 Pure Turbos and SSP SPEC R clutch over the winter , clutch slips slightly in 4th gear do to the power , It’s not a cheap car to own by any means maintenance, maintenance maintenance is key !!! here is a vid of a M6 GC that inspired me to get one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMulfpZmy7LXoIU.html
