Its interesting that the old girl holds its own despite the antique automatic compared to the modern 8 speed in the G30. Both cars are practically identical in horsepower, torque and weight. the g30 is quotet a bit quicker 0-100kph and with a bit higher topspeed, however seems to had a less than ideal start and bogged down a bit.

Proves again that there is no replacement for displacement. Also, both cars have similar weight, of around 1620 kg. The E39 BMW is just faster than the G30, and it is also far better built. E39 is of far better quality than the cheaply made G-series BMWs in general.

Mate, this is a 520d... Does not make sense to put a 3.0 engine in a 20 tier right? A G30 530d still has a straight six 3.0 diesel.

Немного бредовое сравнение, учитывая насколько сильно врет спидометр в Е39) там разбег реально большой с GPS. На новых поколениях уже нет такого разбега.

i have an e39 525i and i have tested many times with a GPS and comparing to other cars from the same years, its really close to real speed! even some newer cars are much worst, like my 2015 clio. u need to go 128 speedometer to be at 120 GPS. and i do have the original 16 wheels and tire size in both of them..

No the e39’s Speedo is only about 5 mph off, pretty much the same as most cars

Uhm...no? The F90/G30 is 10-15kgs lighter than the 530D was, has far more in it than the 530D does. The difference is that the 530D has a far bigger engine and more torque
