BMW Motorrad's most affordable motorcycle, the G310 R is finally here. However, it is treading in rough waters facing competition from the likes of KTM 390 Duke. So, can the G310 R convince a buyer interested in a streetfighter to go for the entry-level motorcycle in the German brand's lineup? Abhilasha Singh takes it out for a ride to find out.

Nicely presented. Just one minor and unimportant glitch: This is not BMWs "first" motorcycle of the 'less than 500cc' engine variety. Of course I had to verify that my memory is still working by using the internet. And sure enough, back in the '50s, when I was a little kid, BMW did indeed make a 250cc single cylinder model. I also remember when one of our neighbors showed up with a brand new "huge" 500cc 2 cylinder, boxer style monster. At the time that was about the best, perhaps largest type of bike one could buy. However, I'm not sure what size engine the Indian motorcycle had, which the neighborhood to neighborhood fish salesman used. That one had a sidecar and a cooler mounted on it. Once a week he'd come around, yell in front of our apartment building that he was there and the then-typical stay at home moms would appear and buy a fish or two. For us little kids, the greatest fascination was when he got back on it, jammed down on the kick starter a few times until it cranked over with explosion-like sounds that scared the crap out of us.. We all held our ears shut. The good old times ;- )

Almost 80k to 1 lakh is to be paid for tbe Brand.....which happens in all other cases aswell. You need to pay the premium for the Brand even though you can get better option at cheaper price

There’s nothing like cheap or expensive, it’s all about “AAPKI AUKAAD” . Rich guy / girl won’t buy Duke 390, just because it’s more powerful n more value for money than bmw 310. It’s all about status, and your standard of living.

It all depends upon the person themself.. some go for specs, some go for brands, some go for design nd some go for showoff.. I already have the 90's edition royal enfield nd bought this bmw g310r, just becoz i m fan of bmw vehicles nd bikes! Rest, there r many people who go for showoff..

The BMW is nice for sure whose quality is beyond question. However, if I were a learner, I wouldn't go for it. At the same time, I wouldn't go for a 1000 cc either. If you have just passed your test, you are bound to make mistakes. Every rider will at some stage drop their bike. If it happens you have a BMW you will have to pay through the nose for spare parts and labour - assuming that you take it to a dealer for repairs. It is a fact that you can't get away from the learning curve and will take time to get experience. So why make your mistakes on a flashy BMW? You will be better off doing it on a bike which is cheap to run and repair. Once you have learned not to make mistakes, then do buy a bike of your dreams. Safe riding now!

BMW contracts an Indian motorcycle to build them a bike, and they sell it under their name. There is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is the price they are selling it for.

If TVS had never released the Apache 310 or If this was the TVS bike and BMW had the full faired bike, then people wouldn't be complaining about the price. The naked would've sold for INR 2-2.5 lakh and the full faired would've sold for INR 3 lakh easily. But, the TVS bike which is better than this bike is available for 1lakh cheaper than this. That's where all this price anger started

India is land of "value for money" when it comes to products so KTM Duke 390 is a absolute no brainer.. BMW is too late for the party with a heft price tag when Japanese legends like Kawasaki has dropped prices on Ninja 300 so BMW is more like iPhone...if you want to flaunt the apple logo - BMW in this case go buy this

if u r asking between the BMW siblings then it is the G310R otherwise any proper low slung cruiser would suit you. For eg: avenger or harley street 750

After Riding I got confused This bike engine doest work in public transport traffic engine get stop either running on 1St gear. They increase 10 thousand after launching of 10 days. Please take a test ride in little bet traffic area so you can understand what is engine. Engine is need only a clear road speed 50 to 70. That we don't have

BMW is already late to the segment party. KTM has been dominant for years in terms of power, performance and price. Besides, these BMWs are way over priced. I dont think their sales arent gonna be as high as they expected.

Review was bit shaky (like pointing out the tail lamp twice etc.)..... Using the word 'Rather' too much.... It irritates at times..... You seem to be a confident rider.... Just don't go by scripted words and pour your heart out at times.... I believe then the reviews can be butter smooth.... Barring that I congratulate you for being the face of the channel reviewing bikes being a lady.... You inspire a lot..... You'd certainly attract a lot of fans.....

Another attempt at making this bike sound like something it is not. This is a 1 cylinder beginners bike. It only costs around $6000 in the US. It can't be compared with any of their other bikes because it is a simple beginners bike that will bore you to tears in about an hour. It will sell well in low income 3rd world countries to people who want a bike that says BMW on it. It is a boring slow bike.
