Performing an oil change may seem routine, something we all do regularly. However, the real challenge arises during extended journeys. On the road, there's no nearby motorbike workshop stocked with your tools. You're on your own, facing unexpected hurdles.
I learned this lesson the hard way while in Turkey, where BMW Turkey declined to service my bike. That forced me into an unexpected 1000-kilometre detour to Greece for both maintenance and new tires. Trust me, I won't make that mistake again.

The only thing I have to sort out are tires. I don't really want to carry those around.

That is why I use Purolator oil filters. I can buy them anywhere and if I can't find one, I can cross reference it to something that any auto parts store will have in stock.

I carry on from now on and replace it after use straight away. With my beamer there biggest issues are tyres. It's hard to get in some countries. Have to be a bit smarter about it.

Hi Steph good tip but if I go on a long trip and the bike is near it’s service which I’ve started to do now I’ll do it before I go cause I like going to Scotland and the bmw dealership up there is crap I have now got a full service kit on stand by ready has soon has I use the next one is ordered without delay and save myself and you a shed load of money 👍🏍️🏍️

On my last trip I started after I had the service, but needed on on the road. Had to detour from Turkey 1000miles to Greece. Not fun.
