Found this video and it helped! My heated wires weren't the same as the ones in this video but I got the gist of the repair and now my left grip heats up again. Thanks!

This helped me repair my 2012 f800r right grip!!! Thanks so much! one super critical step is getting into the multifunction switch (kill switch/ heated grip switch) otherwise you can't remove the throttle grip. On my bike I needed a t9 torx for multifunction switch, a t15 to remove 2 more screws, oh and a t55 to first remove the bar end / weight.

Yea, should have mentioned that. The torx 9 is REALLY an odd bit you need. Happy to hear it helped you!

Thanks, the grips are now $200, well worth taking a look for repair. I have one I removed due to failure and have been waiting for a quiet moment to take a to see what is inside.

It is crazy how much money bmw charges for some molded plastic, a bit of rubber and literally A WIRE. Take your time and I with you the best of luck. Hope this video helps.

Thank you very much for doing this video. You have given me the confidence to tackle my broken grip. I repaired my grip earlier this evening and they are working great. Thanks again!

Super und lieben Dank für das Video!! Gerade erfolgreich repariert und es heizt wieder... hat nur noch die Demontage des Griffs selber gefehlt, das ist vielleicht eine Fummelei, aber jetzt gehts wieder! Herzlichen Dank!

great tutorial, thaks for sharing. one quick question. what's the diameter of the wire that you use? is it 0.20mm?
@derTeddy5 жыл бұрын
lucre sabbatini no idea. It was some wire i had laying around. It was definely larger than the original. The only important thing is that you dont use TOO thin of a wire so it wont burn out right away again

Excellent, I also did this repair however it failed several months later and will be doing it again. What type of wire did you use to splice?

Hey, the cable in the right hand grip it's a nicrom (nickel 80% 20% chromium) 32 awg. It´s used for resistance in the hair dryers. I think its better repair it using a electricity tape for covering, I mean by presure. Regards

Hi there! Thanks for the video.... Could I use a copper wire to splice or do I have to use the Nicrom one (i don't have this kind of wire right know). Thanks again

Felician Chirila this was three years ago. The wire is super thin, maybe 0,2mm. That‘s all I can tell you.
