BMW i8 - Is it as good as it looks ?!

With looks from the future, can the i8 be as good to drive as it is to look at. Thanks to BMW UK I finally get to find out. 911 performance and Toyota Prius economy...surely you can't go wrong with that !

Petol peds vids are always great to watch!👍 Some twenty odd years ago, BMW's fastest 8-series model had a 5.0 litre v12 engine! Compared to this tiny 3 cylinder 1.5 liter engine with artifical sound😩, doesn't help if it is waaaaaaay faster than the beautiful 850, or 840 for that matter.. 👌😎

No, but it should be. Honest reviews & not a group of overpaid twats driving across countries that have no relevance to the vehicles being abused to within an inch of their lives. I'd like to be even harsher but youngsters may be watching !!

I also watched many reviews made by savagegeese, I'm sure you know his reviews, too. Although you do a great job, showing and telling us your impressions of driving great cars, I do miss critical words on these cars. Everything is more or less amazing, and fine, and cool. Is it really? I think, every car has its things, you don't like so much. Please tell us! These aspects are the essence of a test. This is, what I'd like to know. I can imagine, doing critisism is not easy, because if you overdo, dealers perhaps won't give you any car again. This is, where I think, savagegeese does a great job. Sometimes, you, as a viewer of his reviews, have to know him and his way to communicate, what's not good in a car... but you can see or feel it, even when he's not saying it loud. And often, he says it crystal clear. Please don't missunderstand. I like your videos a lot. It's always fun to watch. But it mostly reminds me to an Apple product presentation: great, awesome, awesome, great, brilliant. I'd like to place my words here as a likable constructional suggestion: Tell us, what's not good, or what could be better. I'd like that. :-)

Hi There. Thanks for the comments. My feeling of being underwhelmed only really came out after I had driven the car, on reflection. That is also based on the fact I get to drive some very fast cars so I need to be careful not to let that cloud my judgement. If you had not got that experience this car would feel like a rocket ship !! I do try and be balanced although as you said it's hard for an up and coming channel to slate a car in the style of Jeremy Clarkson :-) Have a look at my recent Civic Type R review, I have some criticism for Honda in that one ;-)

Good review. Are using a steadycam? 2 vids now (atom & this one) where ive thought the camera panning over the car could feel better, perhaps crisper and little bit smoother. Any chance on doing a series on best sports cars for under 30K for us poor bastards please?

Really good review and car looks beautifully designed and built. BUT it does not wow me. May be different when you drive it! I think I would prefer an Aston Martin.

Great review but personally I'm not sold on the looks, and I'd take a thumping V8 over this, especially as their days are probably numbered. I'll keep my Jaguar XFR thanks

Mansfield - Although this car makes some sort of sense in terms of economy, I must agree with you that faced with a choice of this car or a full on V8, V10, V12 alternative, I would still take the alternative. But these smaller engine supercars are becoming more popular.

Petrol Ped I would love to hear such criticism also in the vid. Additionally i have been told that the steering feels completely artificial and lacks any kind of feedback.
