Brandon , great actual user review. I order the i4 m50 originally without seeing it or any reviews. As soon as the the reviews came out for the i4 M50 & ix I cancelled the i4 and placed an order for the ix 50. 10 days ago I got the news it's left the factory in Germany, delivery is imminent 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Remember drag cd is not the whole story. Aero efficiency is the factor of cd * frontal area. The frontal area is huge in the iX, so efficiently suffers compared to a smaller car with a lower roof or narrower chassis

I traded my year old BMW X5 M Competition Ultimate for the new iX50 in January this year, despite the iX50 being over 100bhp down, (and almost 80mph) it is a brilliant car, I am well impressed with it. I also traded my gorgeous Mini Cooper S for the new BMW 223i in April this year, I have an array of solar panels and storage batteries and have now driven for over 6 months at nil cost for charging, I am well pleased. Coming up to 75 years of age and presently awaiting a hip replacement and find the two cars reasonably easy to climb in and out of.

Good review. I am wondering if you decided to put any paint protection film (ppf) on your iX. I am debating if I will put one on when mine arrives.

Love the video Brandon. I ordered one awhile back and just recently received the production number so hoping I do not have too much longer to wait. Mine is opposite of the one you have. Red exterior and black leather inside. I also got “22 inch wheels and the Bowers and Wilkins sound systems. Can”t wait foe delivery. Good Luck with yours.

Hi Brandon, you mentioned the back seat passengers have entertainment but how do the have that? There are no screens in the back like I the eqs. Thanks

Brandon, the tire-to-range information is as follow: 20” 324 miles 21” 306 miles 22” 315 miles I am waiting for my Aventurin Red by the end of this month and I chose the 22” wheel. Pleasant Grove BMW just told me that they will have the all season tires for the 22 inch by August. Also 0 to 60 is 4.4 second. There are couple of wishes in terms of feature that I wish I can have for the IX 50. 1, a hidden hitch system like they have in Europe for the IX 40. 2, the truck area should be much wider and and not taken up by the wall due to the lights, 3, I wish the second row can have some slight reclining, and 4, I wish all the seats have a tel head rest. I ordered the Bowers and Wilken audio system with 30 speakers as I am an audiophile, you know as they say cry once and enjoy the sound for the rest of your time. Sure I also wish that they allow the front engine compartment openable but you can learn from KZfaq how to open that in 5 minutes. Everything you said I agree this is the best EV suv on the market now. I looked into Electricfy America website, there are a lot of stations in Utah. Also their CCB charger is up to 355KW? that mean you should be able to charge the IX up to 195 KWH, have you looked into that?

Pretty jealous! Mine is suppose to be built by May 30th, so I should have it some time in July. Got the Storm bay w/ B&W, but definitely like the black too! Did you find the dimming of the sunroof to be good?

Dude that's going to look sweet I'm sure you'll like the B&W system I heard it's the best on the market right now. I like the sunroof it's big with lots of headroom and the opaque thing is pretty cool.

Hey Brandon, Thanks for uploading this. I appreciate your owners perspective. I too have a iX on order here in Canada, hopefully I will get it by the end of the year. I ordered it unseen so a review like yours is very helpful. I am glad you’re enjoying your iX, love your colour combination, and agree with you, I have no issue with the “kidney grill”. You’re spot on about the door handles in the snow., as well I agree with you about BMW as a manufacturer, I also like how they have tried to address the whole lifecycle of this vehicle to make it more sustainable. I do have a couple of questions as my dealer has not been able to answer the questions; will BMW provide a SW update to provide hands free driving in the future as they’re providing on the new i7, and do you know what the service interval is for the electric motor overhaul (unlike other EVs, BMW chose to use brushed motors which have a limited service life). Thanks.

So I'm not sure about the software update on the self-driving. I know the i7 was supposed to get an updated driver's assistants program I think to set it apart from the rest of their fleet. As far as the electric motor it is a million mile motor you will never have to service that motor

Loved your review, really anxious to get my car, but must be patient : placed my order in Jan. 22 but delivery is (at this point) estimated for may 23 🙄😞. So all I have in the meantime to enjoy are reviews like yours

It's the best car on the road today and that's coming from a guy that's literally driven pretty much every car. one of my good friends has a 2022 Lamborghini urus and I like the bmw IX better. It'll be a great car for 6 years 😎👍

@@pmutah I saw the i7 is getting "highway assist" which appears to be comparable to GM super cruise. Whether it's coming to the iX as an OTA remains to be seen. Do you think it's worth waiting for this feature before buying the iX?

This is still my favorite electric vehicle. And I am seeing good deals on used IXs. I really do like the radiant heat package too. My guess is on the newer BMW IX if they don't have a chip shortage they probably have passenger lumbar

Currently have an IX configured with Sophisto Grey and the same 21” Dark Black wheels. If you could do it again, would you have optioned the 21” bi-color wheels so that there is a chrome outline around the outside of the wheel? I actually have an x5 with a similar design but have fully blacked out winter wheels which I quite like. But for some reason I worry that the dark wheels look unfinished in person. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I considered the gray I think it looks really nice. I think if I could do it again I would probably buy the 22 inch wheels because they're actually more efficient and then buy a completely separate set of 21 inch wheels and tires for the winter time and I would definitely do black

@@pmutah if I lived in a warm climate I would have optioned the 22”s for sure. However, I was trying to avoid having to get a winter tire setup as well and the 22”s are summer tires only. It was between another set of tires or the B&W setup and this time I went with the speaker option. Is the gloss black on those tires just plastic caps or painted metal?

I see then I would go with the 21 inch wheels with the all-season tires and I would get the black ones yes there are plastic inserts in the wheels but they still look very nice

Does ur ix come with air suspension and rear wheel steering? I test drove both 50, 60 over the weekend and it seems those are only standard in 60m

Good video and great car. Does the Mrsp include tax? I don't see any tax anywhere. If this was to be imported to my country it would double that price because of tax.

Looks like a great car but when you dive into it it has a some really annoying issues I just can't wrap my head around were signed off on by the executives. The "handles" that probably will be crammed with snow, the more or less useless cup holders, the wood control panel between the seats are not safe to use when driving as you have to look down to find and hit the "buttons", the crystal controls that reflect the sun in the drivers face, the distance adjustment for the adaptive cruise control hidden deep in the menu and the rear windows only opening half way. These are newbie design mistakes and just unbelievable. This is supposed to be a premium German car. I believe the Mercedes EQS SUV will be a better choice.

It seems like you have the 21" inch wheels. Did you take into account range when you chose them? The 20" have the best range but don't look great. The 22" have the second best range and look great, but come equipped with high performance tires and so depending on where you live, you may need an alternate set of winter wheels. The 21" look good, but have the worst range of all. Just wondering if you took that into account when you picked your wheels. I am wondering about that right now as I live someplace where it does snow (not a lot though). What was your reasoning for picking up the 21" wheels?

When I speced out my BMW ix I did not know the 22 inch wheels would had higher range than the 21 inch wheels. if you get the sport package you cannot pick the 20-inch wheels so it's either 21 inch or 22 inch and the 21 inch wheels have a much better selection of winter tires performance tires and all season tires so that was my reasoning. If I could go back I might pick the 22 inch wheels and then get a separate set of wheels and tires for the winter time.😎👍

@@pmutah Yes, getting 22" AND 21" is also possible, but that is another $4-5k for the additional set. You only lost 3% range between the 22" and 21", so not too bad. The ranges are as follow based on the info I saw (in km, I'm Canadian!) so not too much of a loss, but of it's tempting to maximize range. 20” wheels: 521 km 21” wheels: 491 km 22” wheels: 507 km I think the 21" are a good choice. It's all about weight in the end. I wonder if there will be some lighter aftermarket ones.

We ordered an M60 and according to spec the 22s only get 274 range vs the 21s getting 288. Why the opposite on the x50?

the variation betweenn best and worse autonomy is 6%, I believe roadhandling is more important, went with 22 » for summer, will be adding a 21 » set of winter wheels

My 12v battery to my Tesla MX die so I had to get it jump. Does the iX have access to the 12v battery since the hood is not accessible?

Lol this is a very good question I actually do you know how to open the hood and it is really easy access to the 12 volt battery but for some reason BMW does not want people to know how to access their engine compartment

I dont think you supposed to jump a 12 battery on an electric car such as the iX. On page 333 of the owner vehicule it is stated that the 12 V vehicule battery (not the 105 kWh high voltage battery) is charged by a charger connected to the high voltage battery. Boosting the 12v doesn’t make sense IMO BTW the hood can be opened no problem, sounds like a marketing trick that backfired on BMW..

I wish one could get the 20" with the sports package because presently the 20" is only available with the base buildup which has limited exterior colors and doesn't offer the Titanium bronze option. I have driven over million miles and have never had a blowout with a high profile tires and 4 within 10K of low profile tires....so, I would never want a 22" tires, they will not be as comfortable, have sickly aspect ratio, wear out 10 times faster, slide all over in wet conditions and be more expensive to replace. I don't understand why these automakers are pushing these low profile tires for the sake of "look". Only the tires manufacturers are making huge profit from these low profile tires. The only time these low profile tires have an advantage is when someone is turning more than 30 degrees at over 80 mph, so, it's good for drag racing and that's it. Of course, some people only want cars and SUVs to impress their drag racing enthusiast friends. Don't understand why "performance" is related to just launch control acceleration, shouldn't the word "performance" be more than something that is never used in regular highway? BTW, Bower and WIlkins is not offered as an option for IX 50 anymore, just the Harmon Kardon...B&W is offered in IX 60.

@@pmutah Very detailed on owner's perspective. Great video! Do you have any issue on the charge port? Because my concern is with the charge port angle because when it is charging outside in the rain, it look like it could collect water due to how it is position.
