We've know this car for a few years now and in the pursuit of speed, the own has gone through quite a few upgrades. Wagner Intercooler, Dorch Stage 2 HPFP, Full e85, Custom tune. There is no doubt she's a bit of an animal. Thats why its just been fitted with some of the best street tyres available. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. But the questions is, will these tame the power and actually hook up on the street, or has all the power mods actually slowed the car down?

I’ve had PS Cup 2’s as well as the PS4S”s and the PS4S is a far better street tyre with more grip cold . PS Cup 2’s are superb once they’ve got heat into them, they are better on track as they control their heat better for longer. I don’t think you guys got enough heat into them, I if you put some real effort to get heat into them and have another go, you will be 😮

Hahaha love it!!! Looks like the LC system is overloading the rear axle at launch, I have managed a 4.18 0-62 with Cups in my manual (stock power) M2C with Cups compared with a 4.42 on OEM Supersports. A bit more heat will definitely help too, 35-40 degrees C is where they really come alive. Cheers guys x

Don’t get me wrong these felt great. Just couldn’t put the power down. But this m2 is far from stock.

We'll get it dialed. The car is putting out some decent power. Just need to turn it down for that clutch drop. But it is gnarly being able to spin up the Cup 2s at like 60kmh by just rolling the power on.

Cup 2's Probably need fair bit of time to warm up, before they grip. That M2 has a lot of torque low down, which probably causing the issue hooking up. Need to find the sweet spot for launching, still a lot of fun as it is. 😎

In the following weeks, xHP will release support for M-Series DCT. For regular BMW with DTC software is already out since few days ago.

Yes definitely keen to see the F series support. Would love to know if the xHP for e series DCT transmissions gives the control to wind down how aggressive they launch.

There doesn’t seem to be as many config options for the DCT in xHP as there are for the ZF. e.g. torque limit reduction by gear, i was specifically looking for this feature.

Thats why i Love the ZF......so easy and repeatable. No Launch control required! Glad it wasnt expensive

There is a reason the latest generation of M cars are running the ZF8's. You can tune them to feel 99% as sporty as a DCT and then still get torque converter slip when it's helpful. That said the DCT is an amazing drivers box. This M2 is so much fun once you get some traction.

Did you play with the pressures? Makes a big difference to launching but in the end you’re still drag racing a car designed to lap the ring..

My 335 with DCT is similar, first gear is useless, unless you need a smoke screen to dissappear into. Yes its still running, day 2👊

"fuck it do a launch its got warranty" ..love it! Also, the xHP DCT maps are out now for the E chassis. Flashing the N54 box on Saturday, adjustable launch control, torque limits, shift tables, looks awesome. Gotta link up soon!

I own a 335is with the first dct version and adjust my rpms to the conditions of the track when using launch control. My experience is that around 3000 rpm the tires will not spin but I am on the stock michelins with the 255 30 19 on the rear with an open diff and a jb4 quick tune making 15 psi of boost 380 hp and 400 ft. lbs of torque.

There is a very good chance that Bridgestone RE 003 in correct size would perform better on take off than those Michelins. I know that tests sometimes don’t show 003 as a “super tyres” but in a real word they stick to the road even without much heat

I find with MHD boost per gear it builds a ramp in the logs. Example, 4 psi in 1st gear ramps up to the 2nd gear target when it revs out in 1st. The boost target looks like a staircase in 1st and ends up around 11 psi. This is on a N54 auto Hope this relates to your specs 👍

Stiff rear springs and a tight diff with a DCT is going to spin up so easy at low speeds. You need to launch the car with a full tank of fuel, more weight in the rear, I find my M135i, it shaves about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds off of the 0 - 100kmh. I've shaved nearly 0.3 seconds off when I had a person in the rear seat too. I find the best launches with the xHP stage 3 ZF8 happen when I stall it up slightly to 1100rpm, then only use about 50% throttle and short shift first to second around 4500rpm, and roll into full throttle in 2nd. If I'm not easy with throttle inputs in first or second it starts to do a rolling burnout. The problem is even worse on less than 1/2 fuel.

Happy Friday! Thanks for another great vid! Have you tried brining it back to basics and making sure there's no BMW squat adding too much camber? First updates to my bimmers is adjustable everything on the rear to get zero camber.

Haven't gotten in to the alignment side of things yet. However this will more than likely get setup for circuit work eventually. I think some coil overs are on the cards.

Federals are way to go for grip 265/35 r18 power to weight ratio: .1263 (480tq/3800lbs)

Sounds like you need to lower the launch control RPM if that is possible.

These were nearly all done at the minimum launch rpm, i think declan said it was 3000rpm

Get the car custom tuned on the dyno, it would be smoother and should put power down more efficiently

Wonder what would happen on a drag strip. A proper prepped surface. It feels so aggressive like it would snap something. Gonna have to try heating the tyres up for sure.

PS4S is a far better allround tyre, also the advantage from the Cup 2 is mostly from the outside of the tyre and you don't really use that on straight line launches but most in hard cornering...

What treadwear are the psc2? Maby need some mt et streets or a toyo r888r.... to get it to hook less of a street tyre and more of a semi slick.. however it may actually break something with them 😅🤔

It legit feels like its gonna break something already. Such a violent launch for a factory programmed system. Mind you, i guess it was setup for about 2/3 of the power it currently has.

You need more heat!! I run 700 bhp m5 and my ps4's will hook in second when 30c or more.... take it for a run first to get heat!!! It's all about the heat :-)

Nothing special just modulate the throttle to maintain traction... I personal just roll on in 4th in the m5 from 30 mph as I know I will have traction regardless of heat in the tyres lol. I am following the 17t build by the way, running a 335i convertible on mhd stage 1 plus at present. Very good work from you guys and I enjoy learning about the logs.... I have a jb4 in my m5.

The ZF is much easier to leave the line with. So in this instance it would have been quicker with the auto. It all comes down to torque converter slip. The DCT has no slip, which feels amazing when you have traction. Hopefully we might be able to tune in some slip with the new xhp tune.

Click on AusZman - BMW 135i M sport Roll on from Dig and you will see why I leave the traction control on. This is just rolling on - launch it and its just crazy spinning all the way through third. I just lift off in this video to hook it up...
