*** Ignore what I say about needing guidance in video ***
So this M2 has genuine BMW M Sport M4 Competition Coilovers fitted (to keep warranty). I thought, as with most types of coilovers, these would have a secondary ring to lock the adjuster ring. A locking ring if you will. But after some research found that there is only meant to be a tiny grub screw, a pretty shitty idea on £1,700 shocks if you ask me but hey.
Anyway the grub screw on this shock was missing completely and the other side was loose.
When I initially looked at the car the height on the passenger side had managed to lower itself right down to about 2 threads from coming off! This was causing a 'clunk' on turning and some knocking while driving. The excessive movement had caused some damage to the top mount bearings and once we had sorted out top mount and sourced replacement grub screws and then set up suspension properly found that it had caused some internal damage to the shock absorber.
I would like to say thank you to anyone who watches my videos and sincerely hope they help you in some way.
Obviously if you don't want to take on this job yourself your friendly Diagnostic Specialist guy (that's me) is more than willing :)

The screw is what secures the coil, no second ring. Also, the weight of the vehicle is pressing on the spring so it stays in place.

Did you install the suspension yourself? I'm looking to install mine soon so I was wondering if you have any tips on how the issues you mentioned in the video can be mitigated. Thanks in advance!
