I bet everyone who says that it's under powered are just stupid and have never even driven a car with that kind of power. They watch all the super/hyper-car videos on the internet and think that every car should be as fast as those cars. My M3 has 343hp and I wouldn't want any more than that in a long time! It's even too much on the track IMO.

Took a 3 hour test drive on weekend. Dct , most amazing drive I've ever had . Power Grip and Turn in is amazing, and ohhhhh that sound !!!!!! Deposit down . Now the 6 month wait for 1 :( . Hurry up please mr BMW . Finally a car that brings smiles back . I love this car!

Watched several videos on the M2, the Competition and the CS, and you’re the first to help me understand the difference between the M2 as a sports car and the likes of the 135/235 - when starting to push the 8/10ths and beyond to a loss of grip the M2 makes you feel totally secure when it does so the lateral moving of the tail feels natural and fun. As opposed to 135 and co feeling twitchy and resulting in a loss of confidence. Cheers Joe

If the M2 isn't a real M car than I have no idea what a real M car is. I could care less about the mirrors or carbon fiber roof. Many legendary M cars didn't have those things either. Thanks for the video. I am still waiting for mine. Probably some time after August for me.

Epic video - I just bought my M235i and I couldn't agree more with you regarding the ample power it produces - can't imagine how an M2 would shift. I think many people forget that usable power and on-paper figures are two very different things...

Can’t wait till I get my 2018 LBB M2. People said the 1M wasn’t a real M car, and now some consider it the best M car ever built.

As a M235i owner thanks for showing the contrast between the M2 and M235i. I love my M235i. The edginess of the M235i could be due to the M2 has a 2 inch wider wheel track and wider wheels but I have taken it to some country roads and it gives me all that I want. I was able to keep up in the corners with a late model Porsche 911 non-S recently.

my m235i breaks the rear end loose in gears 1-4. has plenty of power stock. If this M2 has more than that it should be all good. Iv logged 32000 miles on the m235i. all spirited driving and the car still drives like the day i bought it. Most enjoyable car i have ever owned to date. Cant wait to get my hands on a m2. Congrats dude.

Totally agree with you. There are many people out there who don't even own a car commenting on 'lack of power' of certain cars and yes, they are totally lost, caught up in the power trap of more is better!

Hi Joe! Thanks for the videos! This comment is too late but I have just traded in my 2016 M135i LCI Xdrive for an 2018 LCI M2. I had real fun with the M135 in the 3 years of ownership, I live in Sweden so the Xdrive was a pearl to have with the wonderful N55 engine. I agree with you about how anyone who is saying that this car is not an M car knows nothing and never have driven one for sure. The straight performance is near, but you feel the difference in everything else, the steering, braking and most important the suspension! the way this thing swipes through corners is just a reminder av the E92 M3 (other M car i drove). The M135 is really good to "mild" driving, on the edge it just reminds you that this is the limit. The M2 is just a race car really adapted for the street, and you feel that quality when driving it! One more thing! Even if the M135 or even the new M140 are fast, the way this engine sounds and behave is just amazing. The stock exhaust system is perfectly loud and pops and cracks when you want (even with a "secret" way to open valve exhaust even in comfort), and then silent when needed. I know everyone wants a loud car, but if you daily drive and 30+, you would appreciate why the german fellows did it that way :) Just wanted to share my experience with another enthusiast, keep up the good work! :)

We need cars like this in our lives, I can feel a bit ill or have a bad day at work, and immediately feel better when I get in my car for the drive home, awesome machine man, I would say enjoy, but it looks like you already are, cheers.

Thx bud, I hear ya, I picked up a 2017 DCT(white w/standard exhaust) about 3 weeks ago and although I love the car coming from my S5, I know I'd have more fun with the manual(being in Canada probably better for winter too). They only had the DCT ,and I wanted it so bad(last one in Canada for 6 months); so I just ordered a manual(mineral grey w/m performance exhaust). It should arrive for July. Until then life could be worse being stuck with this version. Love the content, keep it up. Take it easy man!

Great vlog Joe - Your warts and all approach is excellent but despite the little quirks, your M2 is a serious piece of kit and without doubt a genuine 'M' car - ignore the doubters bud, enjoy your car and keep up the excellent work - it'll be good to see as the M2 loosens up over the next few thousand miles!

Those with negative comments are idiots and the reason BMW has stopped making proper cars. The last great car BMW made was the e46 M3. It's been 15 freaking years because of BMW catering to people who have no idea what a driver's car is. This is more of an M car than anything produced by BMW in 15 years. They made one decent car since, the 1M and didn't even produce enough to go around.

Lovely car, Joe! M135i or M235i is an amazing car for the money but this must be on another level when you really start pushing it Anyway, I'd love to to hear your thoughts about why you went for DCT instead of manual in the next video. I love 1M so manual would have been my choice though you can't beat the speed of DCT.

I currently have an M235i and I'm waiting for my M2 to arrive in November. I was going to do a comparison video but you've beat me to it haha! The only thing I would have liked are some upgraded seats (just set it apart from the M235i) not the big M3/4 seats as they wouldn't fit but some lighterweight ones, some Recaros or something or even just make them look a little more like race seats haha. Less weight overall would have been good but I still have a feeling a CSL or GTS version will be on it's way. Gonna make sure my names on the list early for that so I'm not waiting for over 12 months haha! Like you say it's all about how they drive and not what the paper stats say. Can't wait to drive it!

I like the tiny English roads, so scaled down compared to US roads it's quaint and pleasant. Plenty power and more than adequate for everyday car to live with in my opinion

You basically get the same interior and engine in a much cheaper M135i, like you and I have. Also a hatch is far more practical, and when you put the back seat down, they become like a two-seater mini station wagon. I needed that to fit fishing rods in. So I got an M135i over a M235i, and the same probably holds true for the M2. Which either makes an M2 overpriced or a M135i or M235i, the bargain of the century. I think it's the later. My mate has an M2, and my stage 2 M135i is slightly quicker, but he paid moon beams more than I did. I think M135i, and are really cool, cos the only 3litre 6cyl, rear wheel drive hatchbacks avail since the 318/325Ti, but with a turbo you can crank up to 20psi of boost. The M140i are over 40K here, in NZ, but I got a pristine M135i for 21K.

Mine M2 is due in a couple of weeks....sapphire black with a few options. I've spec'd it as much as I could because I actually think it will do me for many many years (I will be replacing an F80 M3 Comp pack with it!) Just juggling exhaust options...did you ever consider any Joe? The Akra is proper dollar. Considering seeing if M3/M4 front seats fit as I love those....... Your M2 videos have been a big help in my choices and man maths :)

13:10 actually i think bigger rims gives you less grip off the line, (for example drag cars wheels) and again i think the reason for that big rim thin profile tires less flexible than small rim thick profile tries and that give it less resistance to torque on the wheel

The lack of a carbon roof, special mirrors or specials seats don't bother me.... From those 3; special seats (like on the M3/M4) would be the thing I wanted the most on my M2. The roof and mirrors are more a visual thing then something you notice when driving...

I always felt like you were really hesitant between auto and manual (just like i am ! I do drive an auto 118i, and i'm considering getting a manual 228i for the end of this year, but i'm always changing my mind about the gearbox). - Why are you keeping the m135i? Hi Joe seriously love this car considering placing an order for one in the next few months your videos are very honest and informative. One thing I cant guage is your exhaust the stock one or is it the MPE model?

And I heard some friends who testdrove an M2 demo car and currently own M135i(LCI) or owned an M135i in the past say the M2 is not really faster irl. I know my 1M with only the N55 midpipe is a bit faster than an M135i but I have to do my best. M2 would be faster beyond 6k rpm wouldn't it? With (as you stated and I read) almost 400BHP on the crank it should:)

I saw one of these yesterday, and i just think it looks so much better than the M4, both very good looking but it is just something about a smaler car. Only thing I absolute hate about it is that it does not have a temp gauge for the engine, it the same on my fathers Volvo, You just never know when you can really floor it!
