Great video again mate! Nice to see you have bought your car 2 months before I bought mine past year :). I absolutely agree with your points. The exhaust is indeed a shame that it vibrates so much at the cold start and that there is still no fix for this. Luckily the sound and the visual aspect compensate this enough. The car is indeed amazing and in my opinion much more fun/hardcore to drive with compared to a BMW M3/M4. Hopefully you find the issue with that strange click sound with turning the wheel, but hey than you have also some nice content for a future video :)! Keep up the good work👍🏻

Super nice, I have a 2017 in long beach blue with the CF mirrors, rear diffuser, side fin things, MPE, just like yours. I'm jealous of your tail lights and gauge cluster but I don't have the red trunk button at all. I also installed the ASD bypass harness, and replaced the stock amp with the audiotech Match UP7BMW AMP which is plug and play (except for tuning, which you need a laptop and a lot of patience for) and makes a world of difference. The amp alone almost makes the audio system good. Huge upgrade from the absolutely garbage HK audio system. Then I cut a hole in the rear deck and installed an 8" sub (the Match amp has a line out for a sub amp which is super convenient). Now the audio system is finally great. That was the one pain point with the car that I just couldn't get over.
@TheHunterHofman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, such a fun car right!? Good point about the HK audio system, it is subpar indeed, BMW could have (and should have) done better. I’ll look into replacing the stock amp, thanks!

Good humor! Thanks for filming from multiple angles. How do you feel about the DCT? I haven't had a non manual in a few years but think it would still be fun and also live in Los Angeles so DCT would be nice for traffic. Wish it had radar cruise contorl.
@TheHunterHofman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, appreciate it. I absolutely love the DCT. It’s very ferocious when in Sport(+), and quite civil/organic feeling in Comfort mode. It’s also the one and only M2 with a DCT (as the next one gets a torque converter automatic). Radar cruise control would’ve been nice indeed (especially with a lot of traffic lol)

Hi Hunter, we have the same car and color. I've had mine 4 years and also started with your "carbon covered tin-can" exhaust tips. The resonance I first heard turned out to be a loose rivet on one of the cans. It disappeared when I removed it from up the exhaust (crazy it did not fall off) upon reaching my first destination, aprx 400 miles. 3,000 miles later down Interstate 40 here in the states, we viewed the Grand Canyon - what a car, flawless all the way!. The exhaust did nothing for performance, annoyed my wonderful neighbors, so I ditched it for a new stock set-up. No resonance, happy neighbors, nice chrome tips and still sounds great on Sport Mode under full acceleration. The M2 continues to look amazing because original owner had Xpel (clear plastic coating) applied over the entire car! I rinse it about twice a year, mainly to clean the wheels! The only other problem I've had is an occasional vibration somewhere near the steering column. Cheers!
@TheHunterHofman Жыл бұрын
Damn, that must have been a treat to drive to (and see) the Grand Canyon, very cool. Fair point about the stock setup, loud enough for my purposes too, to be honest. Opening the valves on my MPE is a bit loud sometimes I think (maybe I’m getting older). Thanks for the comment James🙌🏻

I like the cold start of the MPE and its the most amazing sounding exhaust for the M is the OEM MPE. Regarding the remote is that a geographic thing? first time ive seen that.
@TheHunterHofman2 жыл бұрын
(Apart from the vibrating issue) they’ve done a really good job with this exhaust, I agree. It is indeed a geographic thing and it also has to do with timing: I believe the cars from mid-2017 onwards came with the red button (when the MPE was installed at the factory or BMW dealership)

The clicking could be strut top mounts. I think with the stiffness of the chassis they will get a lot of abuse over bumps etc. I’ve only had my M2 a week and only been home from working away for a day. I drove around 150 miles yesterday alone. I have a few styling mods arriving today. I am also going to check my rear diff for any leaks. Be as well finding any issues while I have the BMW approved used car warranty.

Congrats on the M2 mate, do you have the same clicking/ticking noise?

@@TheHunterHofman thanks mate, absolutely loving it so far. No but my wife’s F21 M135i had a similar issue and when I changed them the bearing has a lot of slop and made a clicking noise. @@stnnn1992having an LCI myself, I wouldn’t want a pre-LCI anymore, even though the differences are minor. i appreciate the review, i'm currently in the process of selling my 2021 m235i Gran coupe today, and looking to pickup a 2018 M2, i test drove one last week a 6 speed manual version and i've got to say it is one of the best cars i've ever driven, sounds good, has above average power, 6 speed and just looks absolutely mean, video dnt do it justice, seeing how low this thing sits in person with the wide fenders and meaty wheels, just makes u wanna stick it in the tailpipe lmao, but ya i'm going for the same spec as yours, have yet to find one that fits my standards, and for those who say "get the comp blah blah" first of all i have never been a fan of the s55 motor, idc if it's an actual M motor, i care abt sound, that's the biggest thing to me, plus the n55 sounds better and ya i'm sure it doesn't handle as good as the comp, but i am not tracking the car, i just want a fun daily for the value , that i can take on drives and photo shoots, really excited to pick one up, no car has ever made me smile like this one, and i've came from 2 wrxs and an sti, and i've driven many cars other than those, but the m2 is just a great car! ps, the comps price is like 200-350 more monthly than a regular m2, i dnt think 40+ hp and better suspension and slight visual difference is worth 300+ a month extra, at that point if i'm paying 1k a month i'll just get a porsche😂
@TheHunterHofman2 жыл бұрын
Thank you man. I agree with you on the M2 Comp; you’ll love the N55 M2 and it’s ‘all you ever need’. I honestly can’t think of a better/just as fun car in that price range (maybe a Porsche Cayman S). Let me know how the search for an M2 goes.
@KareemKayy2 жыл бұрын
@@TheHunterHofman ya it's pretty annoying the amount of people who counter argued me wanting an M2, i think for the price it's such a great car, and tbh the 5 spoke wheels that come on it look so much better and match the wide fenders better, comp is cool but idk i can't see myself spending 1k on a car that doesn't sound good, sound is a huge one for me, although i do wish the base m2 had better seats that's kind of the down side to it but who knows in the future i'll pickup some used m4 seats! i found a few, one that had 12k miles with 4 owners haha, sadly i dnt wanna take a risk on that lol will probablly settle and get one with 20-30k miles, even tho i wanted one with 9-15k, but it's all good, i dnt plan on modding the car only exhaust so it should be reliable for me:) will post a review when the time comes thanks again bro!
