The GT3 is likely that bit sharper on the track, owing to smaller size and lower weight. But from what I've read, the CSL is a better daily than the noisier and firmer GT3.

Great review! Just picked mine up this week in Alpine white. Coming from a GTS and no regrets! I personally love the seats…just had to get them adjusted at the dealership.

@@TML34 Yes they can be adjusted for tilt as well. Came in way too high and straight for me. Three height/tilt adjustments on driver side and two on passenger.

@@rodgerk. Planning to use it a few times a week to go to work and on a private track I belong to. This car needs to be on track on a regular basis.

You don’t pick this model M4 over a 911. However, you DO pick an M4 with X drive over a 911 when you want fowl weather capability and most important… rear seats that actual people can fit into…. The best review I’ve read of the M4 with x drive call it a Bavarian built Nissan GTR. Hard to think of a higher compliment than that…

@@cwx8 it’s grown on me.. drive thru a bmw lot. The new grille looks modern and makes the old cars look just that…. Old….but I’m not a car enthusiast that pines for old cars that a modern Camry would blow away…. IMO the only old BMW to make my garage would be the M Coupe…. I’ve previously owned the ZM4 and loved it..

IMO the M3 CS is the way to go, looks better, considerably faster thanks to 4wd and $20k cheaper. The CS jump is actually reasonable compared to a loaded M3 comp. That matte color is fantastic indeed

Awesome car. Worth the money. I have a manual 992 GT3. Both are very different cars. This is as exciting as a GT3 in its own way. I would say with thrilling shifts, sound and a ton of carbon fiber its a better value then GT3 unless this is the last NA GT3.

Also M4 CSL cost me 155K and GT3 274K. Again no comparison. M4 has more carbon fiber and standard ceremic brakes. Same Hp.

Goodness gracious. I completely agree, BMW should've put more effort into separating it from the standard M4. I mean, if you're going to make it flashy, might as well go all the way. Anyway, one was sold on Bring a Trailer for $169,420 (I kid you not lol) last week. Dude sold it because the seats were too extreme.

Prior gt3 991.2 was 144k base. This isn’t better than that one. But good on bmw making things like this.

I'd take this over a gt3... Mainly bc of the uniqueness and I actually really like the way it looks. Performance wise? Sure a gt3 is probably a bit better, but this is 90% of the way there. Is it over priced? Hell yeah. But most cars are over priced these days...

Tough one…there’s price overlap between this and a new 911 GT3 depending on options in Canada…both start with a 2. M4 Comp xDrive for meeeee at 112k.

As a former BMW M fanboy, the M4 CSL is for people that couldn’t get a GT3 allocation or didn’t want to spend the extra money because, I’m sorry but let’s be real, nobody is choosing this as a drivers car over a 992 GT3…..scalpel vs sledgehammer

Is it really 40k better than a “similarly” equipped RWD M4 comp??? As in would you drive them back to back and say to yourself, the CSL is worth every penny over the everyday M4 comp? I felt that way in driving 911 variants. I’m not sure I would here, but I can’t say for sure because I likely won’t get to drive a CSL.

For someone making a $400k a year, spending half of their annual salary might not justify the small difference. But, if you're making millions and $40k is nothing, well then you're getting something better for "nothing" so it's a pretty good value.

@@DarkHelmet1976 I can see the relative POV. But I’d argue that a GT3 is seen as worth the difference in price, regardless of whether one can just barely afford it or one has every generation of GT3 in a garage amongst dozens of other cars. Perhaps it’s unfair to try and make the argument against the CSL so strictly in line with the GT3 and I feel compelled to acknowledge that. However, I’d say the same applies to the Corvette Z06. It is universally agreed to be worth the jump at least among journalists. To be clear, I own a manual G80 so I’m also open to the possibility that I may have some level of bias on the subject. I’m just not sure seat removal, carbon parts, an ECU reflash of the same engine, and a limited run are enough to say “$40k more special.” 🤷🏾‍♂️ interested to hear your thoughts. Seriously…

You could put a pizza box on a skateboard and make an argument that it’s a better looking vehicle than this thing. It’s hard for me to comprehend spending extra money to make an already grossly polarizing M4 design look even worse…sure it’s an awesome car to drive, but it looks like a little kid designed its exterior and there are just soooooooo many more appealing options than this thing. Although I will admit that I absolutely love the wireframe LED design of the taillights…those things looks awesome. Rest of the car is simply goofy looking. If anything, just give me the M8 Competition instead (I’m personally not concerned with Nürburgring lap times)

@@KandiMan ok fair enough candy man. I haven’t driven the new M4 but I have a 997tt and have driven* nearly every gen 911 and every gen M car up to f80.. Porsche is superior to BMW in every single way.

@@mh0072 we’re talking about the CSL, literally the fastest car on track they’ve ever made, you should try it before claiming a base 992 Carrera is superior, I think you’ll be shocked by the CSL given your low expectations

BMW sells a $145k M4CSL in the US, but won't offer the M3 Touring? How many CSLs do they expect to sell? I believe the M3 Touring will sell much better.

i don't think it can compare to a GT3, the 992 GT3 is pretty sharp front end with a special engine and good steering feedback. This is typical BMW ZERO Feel plus feeling heavy like sledge hammer. Yes it will move but not in the corner like GT3, the engine is powerful but not emotional nor sound particular good. The driving experience is just not that much better than an M4. Also you see how the dealer is asking markup on this, not any less than a 992 GT3. so 180k vs 220k after mark up for regular folks without dealer connections. this or GT3 i will choose GT3 everyday.

I love the car's performance, but I can't get over the styling. To me, it looks like a bunch of aftermarket bits were bolted on. That being said, the color is amazing and the performance can't be denied. For my money, at this price point, I'd have to go with a Porsche GT4.

Something BMW has always been good at with this generation of M3/M4. I felt the last gen car phoned in the steering . . . as well as everything else. In this specific flavor, the steering is ratcheted up a couple of notches. Far more precise with a little twitch at points due to the many changes to the suspension set up and wheel/tire combo. Would have liked to see them add more weight to the steering but I am a bit of freak in that department.

Remeber when we said how ugly the e30,36,46,92 and f8x were and then we changed our minds? O wait... Those cars had their faults like anything else made by humans but bmw has completely lost their way. Performance is top notch but thats it.

It's ok overall but the nose is still ehh. Strange days we live in when the "lightweight" version of a performance car is 200-400lbs heavier than a family sedan.

I would take any modern 911 over this. Looks goofy as all hell and way overpriced for a parts bin special. BMW has lost its way. I've owned a bunch of M's but now a Porsche and Blackwing garage only.

You are correct, I owned the f80 m3 and I have tried hard to like the G series.. Not happening..I think majority of people hate the new M but pretend hard to like it.. The only advantage here is the price

I've had 3 BMW's and just cannot stand the new design language. I don't know wtf BMW is thinking, their cars now look like they are designed by children, except for the 230/M240 & the 3/M340. I won't be buying another one.

The car is amazing, but just the gray color sucks, if you can at least give me the black or blue options in color would be and easy sell for that car as it sells itself.
