A quick guide to the suctions and how to use BMW's Multicontour and massage seats with a little added bonus of the passenger seat control function.

@@mochiman1943 I do however in my 550i I have noticed that neither of the head rests go all the way down. Is that how it’s supposed to be?

Opinion on dakota leather? Is worse than merino or nappa? Heard is more durable..if u ever had a bmw with it TY

I haven't heard your opinion about the quality of the massage? Is it really doing anything, and worth it for long drives or is it just uncomfortable to sit while it is doing the massage?

It’s no shiatsu massage… but it basically gently moves you around so your blood doesn’t pool in say your legs and your butt doesn’t fall asleep. The back massage is nice, i prefer the full body option myself. Quality wise, i would say it’s perfect for exactly what it’s meant for, keeping you comfortable on really long trips or when you’re aching a bit. But it is in no way a replacement for your massage parlor membership :P

Is the air ventilation with the Multi Contour option in X5? Or does the ventilation comes on,y with full Luxury Seating package?

only in full luxyry seating package OR a la cart as an option which would make you upgrade to multicontour in the first place

On the 2022 X5 you can get the Luxury Seating Package on the Vernasca leather which is what I would choose (I have two very young kids that would destroy the merino). With that leather, does the addition of the massage and/or the ventilation make the seats any less comfortable (when neither are in use)? Thanks!!

I know sometimes adding features to seats can end up making them stiffer and a little less comfortable? For seat ventilation, I have them in an Audi (2018) and in a Porsche (2017) and I love them. Any ideas if the feeling/technology is the same for the BMW? Thanks!

Not at all. it's only available on our top leather seats to keep everything as premium and luxurious as possible to make your long trips more comfortable.

if you push from the back directly then yes (assuming there's room to move forward on the track)

When you cool your seats, do they vibrate uncomfortably? Just got my 23 x5e and both seats vibrate when cooled.

sounds like a loose bolt holding your cooler on... get that checked out at your local BMW dealer to get that fixed!

@@BMWofFW it was on both driver and passenger on two same model year vehicles. Looks like a bad design to me.

Can't wait for the 3 Series to get the optional massage seat - (Audi A4 has it already.)

What is your opinion of the Multi-Contour Seats ($750) vs. the Luxury Seating Package ($1,600) on the 2022 X5? Do the massage seats make the seats stiffer/more uncomfortable? How well do the ventilated seats work? Thanks so much!

the multicontour seats are literally just that... 18 way adjustable seats. the luxury seating package adds the multi contour with massage and ventilation as well as top tier leather. So comfort is pretty amazing! Getting the seat to your exact specs will be a breeze in those seats. As for ventilation, it's more akin to a bunch of tiny gnomes blowing on your bum than sitting on an ice cube. So if you need REALLY cold seats id' say that's not the way to go... but refreshingly cool, yes these seats will do that. Hope that helps!

Can you buy these seats separately? I have an 04 BMW 325 convertible and want to modernize it a bit more.

not 100% sure to be honest... i'd find it hard to believe they wouldn't be, only thing you might run into is having the seat fit, since the 5 seats are wider than the 3, you might have rubbing issues with the B pillar and center consol. Also not 100% sure if you'd need more power because of the multiple moving parts or if it would just be plug and play with standard seat connector. Sounds like a fun project though! i'm sure there are a good number of 3 series owners who've been jonesin for multicontour seats!

depending on car and model yes! Mainly X5 and X7 have both sides as well as 8 and 7 series, the iX right now is JUST driver, likewise with 5 series.

It’s a very disappointing massage. It only does the seat back not the bottom which would be nice. OG 7 series had great Bottom massage.

one thing to keep in mind, unlike your at home shiatsu massage chair, these have to be crash tested and passed before being put into vehicles. Because of that, more hard parts of a traditional massager has to be replaced with air bags or simple vibrating pieces that won't damage an occupant in the event of a front or rear collision.
