BMW N55 Injector Install and Teflon Rings DIY - BMW N55 Engine Rebuild Project Part 7

When I got to the injector part of the project I was surprised to see that the injector tool I had did not fit. Turns out to change the injectors on the early BMW n55 engine, you have to use a different tool from the later BMW N55 engines that share the design with a BMW N20 engine. So, in this video I show you how to installed the decoupling rings, new teflon rings (seals) without a special tool and then install the injectors into the engine. This is very much DIY since you do not have to buy a very expensive tool for the seal, unless you want to.

Only use that crows foot at a 90° angle otherwise you are adding/subtracting length to the tq wrench over/under tightening.

Man! This is definitely the video I was looking for, as I have the same exact plate covering the injectors/spark plug wells.. apparently I ordered all the wrong injectors and tools 🤦‍♂️😂

The injector tool install to the block was overkill. You can just use the middle holder it works just fine

my car was missfiring on cilinder #5. injector#5 was very loose actually I picked up with hand after removing the braket and the seal was gone(looked on the cylinder chamber and did not find anything) and the decoupling element was not attached to the injector. and I am not sure if the decoupling element is stuck in the block or someone never insatlled it back? anyways when pocking the intectors all of them seemed to have some slight "play" is that normal??? I have the n55 the but mine uses the other bracket. and the other tool. thank you

Hi, love your videos, I only need to changer injector number 6. Would you recommend using the tool to remove just 1 injector? Or would it effect the load distribution over the 2 injector banks?

@9:37 boss you are working harder needlessly. That tool has a spring loaded detent on it. Depress that, and it releases the head that screws to the injector from the bracket, allowing you to install the bracket to the engine without a fuss. Then simply just pop the head back onto the bracket, and screw it onto the injector.

@@SimpleCarGuy Not only that, but when you begin to screw it onto the injector, the detent will stay depressed until you just bottom out on the injector. It will then discharge. This is your cue to stop screwing as you have reached max threads.

I have two bad injectors on my n55 I plan on just replacing the two from a parts car would I need to code them in or just plug and play ?

You need to code them. The car will work without coding, but you will most likely get lean or rich codes, use more fuel or run roughly without it.

Hey what up buddy I just replaced my injector 1,3 and I decided to remove 2,4 to clean carbon build up on tips did not replace coupling or seal can that give me a no start ?

Late but is the injector seal compressor tool or act of compressing necessary if buying brand new EU5 bosch injectors?

You still need to compress the seal or else you risk damaging it while inserting and having a leak.

Do you only have to torque the middle bolt (at the end) to 13nm. The rest you just snug.

If I replace only 2 injectors do i have to pull out and replace the seals for all of the other injectors? On a 2013 535i

What happens if you don't replace the decoupling element ?

You can possible get away with just using the old ones, but BMW recommends getting new ones when replacing injectors. If it's a bit worn or damaged in some way or corroded etc. it may cause compression leak (lower compression on that cylinder).
