Its a great ride! Quite versatile! I was able to part ways with my 1290 super Duke, but still have the ktm1090 for the more adventurous trips, still I'm surprised just how capable the RT is! Moving on from the servo breaks was a great move on Bmw's part!

@@TRCAdventures been wanting to put a ride together since I am turning 50 in November, had been considering a Morocco 10 day trip, but... Due to Covid restrictions, might just have to do Grand Canyon in late September.

@@edwinrosales986 a ride to the grand canyon is good add in Zion National park, Ouray Colorado, Silverton, Durango and you have the makings of an epic adventure !

I do not, for security I try and park so I can see the bike from my room, or ask if I can park my bike in view of the front desk (normally I like this idea best), a few questionable places let me park in the lobby or courtyard! and just my asking in ear shot of the maintenance person, they let me park in there garage!!! in Mexico I ask for secure parking when making reservations and they have always had me covered and secure!!! no chain no locks

Of these two bikes and only because of the year 2007 I would have to say the FJR, but only if I was forced. The FJR has a few attributes I'm not a fan of, 1, it is an unbalanced bike at low speeds and the only bike that actually worries me to push around the shop (I feel like I'm going to drop it). Once it's moving over 10mph it's just fine. 2) build quality it not as good as others (BMW, Honda, and others) The 07 BMW has the electric hydraulic assist ABS breaks and they are a disaster if you have a problem, they can cost more than the value of the bike if they go out, they are also not great for aggressive riders. In 2009 the BMW breaks were changed and are as reliable as they are great! Both bikes require vary low maintenance, BMW it's much easier to check valves, the Yamaha it's much easier to replace the clutch. bMW feel lighter and is much more balanced, the Yamaha is more comfortable for taller riders. BMW feels like it handles better and the FJR has more power. If it were a newer BMW (2009 or newer) I would choose the BMW

The older bikes tend to consintrate the wind protection to the upper body, the newer bikes tend to provide more lower body protection and slow you to adjust the airflow more on the upper body and for your passenger. The newer bikes also rely on constant airflow to provide the most comfort, for instance with the screen all the way up you need a passenger to move the negative pressure back farther or you can get buffittng. Bring the screen down a bit and that goes away, but with the screen all the way up with a passenger you can also remove the buffittng from them, in the end I find the newer bikes to have better protection in all weather conditions.
