This video shows you how to perform a brake fluid flush and how to reset the service indicator after the flush is complete. This procedure can be applied to all BMW's and Mini Coopers.

Hello Ben, The fluid is replaced every two year by time as it is hydroscopic (absorbs water). I do not have a specific tool list for the brakes but it just requires normal tools such as allen sockets, metric sockets, and a large channel lock to press the piston on the caliper in.

Thanks, It is very hard to find a DIY for E70, I did my DIY for hot engine diagnosis, and brake pad replacement. This time it will make it easy for me to do the brake fluid flush. Thanks again. I want to exchange info with other, if I dont have time to make a video here.

:) E60 5 Series is even worse to get to. The cover is used to catch debris from entering the well area where the reservoir sits and most likely for air flow for efficient dynamics :) I had one customer stop in and ask for a brake fluid topp off on an E60 because he could not find the reservoir. An access door would be a nice touch for us mechanics ;)

You'd think they could make a nice access door for the brake fluid reservoir...I wonder why they decided to hide it under the cover like that?

I like to use about 3 liters to ensure the system is fully flushed.

Do I need to bleed the brakes everytime I change rotors/pads? I have 60K and doing brake job now. Seems like I dont have to. Also, any tool list you have put together for rotor/pad replacement on fronts? 2011 35i X5 (E70)

Questrion, is there an order that you should be doing this? ( e.g. LR, RR, LF, RF ??) I guess what did you do (I see LR, RR, RF, LF?)

Hello Jessen, I would be happy to give you more information on what I use. If you type in vacula brake bleeder into google it will come up with the vacuum style brake bleeder I use. The brake fluid would be any dot 4 or 5 brake fluid from any parts store. I hope this helps!

On X5-E70 Parking light came on while driving !! Can the delay in 'Brake Fluid change' OR 'Low Brake Fluid' in the reservoir can cause this intermitant ON and OFF (Yellow /Red) -

+Baboi George Hello, This sounds like it may be a bulb warning for a parking light. As the bulb element makes and breaks contact it can be on and off.
