The all-new BMW X5 is also offering a third-row options for its customers. If the optional third row seats is specified, customers will receive rear seats with electric fore-and-aft adjustment.
The video shows the operation of the third-row seat, legroom, headroom and cargo space with the seats up or folded.

Just need that 3rd row about 3x a year for the kids bday parties traveling to an adventure park or something, so this is a great compromise.

ANYONE SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT BACK THERE ISN'T GONNA WANT TO WAIT. MANUAL WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE. IT AIN'T A ROLLS ROYCE.

Imagine this, you're walking back to your parked X5 on the street downtown, you've got your kids with you, and get caught in heavy rain with no umbrella. You rush to your X5 to fit the family in but have to stand at the side of your car waiting for the 2nd row seat to do its thing = 3rd row passengers wet. Then wait for the seats to return to its rest position = 2nd row passengers more wet. Then finally you, the driver, gets in = extremely wet.

Toss them over the back by folding one side of 3rd row and having them get in through boot like one BMW sales guy did in his video, he said it was easier LOL.

Does the second row have more leg room than the standard X5? Are the seat back of the second row adjustable?

Same leg rom in the second row. No, not adjustable.

Yes, you could push seat to back amd have more space for your legs...pull the button under each seat of 2nd row and push back ...I love mine

Yes it's tight - yes the seat movements are slow. But, give the Germans some credit here. They are the only engineers that regularly take on complicated design propositions that are nearly impossible to conquer and figure out solutions to incorporate into a mass production offering. That is the most difficult challenge in engineering, to best simplify complications.

Ugh, i'm here because none of my local bmw dealers have a 7 passenger x5 on the lot. our 2010 mdx has more legroom in the 3rd row and actually can carry normal sized adults, but still only good for short trips. Having said that, there is more cargo room in the x5 with the 3rd row up, and the ingress/egress through the door to gain access to the seat is wider. i guess it depends on what you value the most...

@@stevefridman yes. It turns into this triangular space that can’t take tall bulky items like a suitcase, as the seat back is almost touching the rear hatch glass. The current 2022 mdx is much better than this however, and it also has the option of dropping down the load floor to create a deep well in the cargo area.

Awesome suv. Now that they also have an off-road option with air suspension locking diff and low range gear, I cant wait to trade my GL in.😂😂🤣

In dubai I see almost every SUV has standard 3rd row, same like 2nd row where 3 adults can sit. I don't know why such SUV isn't available in the UK

So you didn't show us middle row leg room when you put the seat back with you in rear. Useless video as we couldn't tell from that how well you fit.

The seat was put at a normal distance. So it reflects a proper driving position.

Does not look good to move 7 adults, but I bet many of the people who need such a car need it for all the kids they have to carry (I come from a family with 5 boys) this car would have worked for us until my youngest brother reach teenage-hood (growth).

@@bmwblog Yes I know this. Sorry I'm not being clear. What I'm saying is that the 5 seaters have loads of storage space below the boot floor. In the 7 seaster most of that space will be occupied by the rear 2 folded seats especially when seats 6 and 7 are folded. I guess what I would need to do is have 6 and 7 professionally removed and then have a 5 seater boot floor fitted.

@@M_H_H Most of the second hand ones I like come with 'all options ticked', i.e. with the 7 seats. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy new with all the options I want. 😪🤣😂

If you need third row seats and have to have a BMW, give the X5 a miss and wait for the X7. Unless your passengers are pre-adolescence kids, or extremely short adults.

The X5 third row seating is designed for small adults and children so yes, the X7 is a true 7 seater.

Nothing special here, thanks for the video, but it doesn't show 3rd row legroom or 2nd row legroom when he has to push 2nd row forward all the way. Way too similar to F15 seats and electric is a mistake. $1200 option most likely that a lot people won't go for.
