We M50 swapped on of our E30s and want to add an oil cooler. We picked up a BMW Z3 S52 oil filter adapter and have to figure out how to make it work.

Sorry, I have not gotten back to it. We have raced on the M50 over a year without an oil cooler and had no issues so I am not very worried about it. I have not solved the thermostat/bypass. There is no ring machined into the housing for the cir-clip to hold it in. I did not want to weld it in. I will try to put together an update on the fittings I got.

So the first method you are using m14x1.5 AN10 and m16x1.5 AN10 fitting ?

Sorry I mean AN8

@@midnightg3593 The factory method uses AN fittings. Sorry I do not remember or know the actual size. We have raced the car 4 times now without an oil cooler. I finally sent an oil sample out for testing. If it is does not show signs of overheating, we will skip the oil cooler.

@@troyhogan8211so I just finished doing mine I used a euro z3 s52 oil filter housing with m14 and m16 banjo bolts and fitting that turn into a male an10 for the thermostat I used a Mishimoto inline oil thermostat that opens at 180 I think it should be be fine but if I do get issues I can swap the thermostat to open earlier
