He hasn't gotten canceled cause his fans know his comedy is satire and at the end of a day it's a joke and most his fans know that. That's the reason why I love him and his community of fans so much. 🥰

The rule for when you see the "real Bo" is on the mantra he had on What: Art is a lie, _NOTHING_ is real. My rule of thumb for all artists is that, outside of them literally saying "I will be real and not have any act for a while now" nothing you ever see is entirely honest. Like, the end of Can't Handle This, you watch it without knowing, he looks like he is a very good artist going with the beat; you hear him talk honestly about it, dude was literally having a meltdown during that. I think it's best to focus on the message the artist put out than on whether that was something they planned ahead or something that just happened.

Might argue that when they attack a heckler it is real. If you watch the montage of Bo's you can almost see him snap out of charachter and start yelling at the person.
@benboom910
@benboom910 7 ай бұрын
Most of your comment is right, but let's not forget that a lot of "Can't Handle This" is edited and filmed with pick ups. Especially for the close up shots. The song is about his meltdowns, yes. But the point Bo makes several times is that if you don't focus on it, he's not gonna make it obvious that he's having a panic attack. He'll just be out of breath while performing mostly by memory. Since the whole show is written and rehearsed down to the hand movements and head nods.

Ever since I have heard this song, I keep noticing the things he talked about in every love song i listen to and it's been driving me crazy for years. Somebody probably already wrote this, but there's a funny story connected to this song: once, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez went to one of his performances of "What." where this song was performed. There's a clip on youtube where Bo tells this story The (not) master list of tracks: - "Sad" - "The country song" - "Kill Yourself" - "Ironic" - "Eff" Fun songs/wordplay songs: - "#deep" - "Oh Bo" - "What's funny" - "Words words words"

Listen to him on podcasts/interviews. His friendship with Pete Holmes is fantastic cuz the age gap is about a decade but Bo appears to be the elder of the 2. The themes of his act are absolutely his essence, including when he breaks the 4th wall to troll himself and his own craft. Bo has opinions and he doesn't make you suffer through them, he makes you want to hear them. Love it, we need more of it.

Thanks Suffi Reax for the like! If you want some insight into Bo Burnham, look up The Green Room on KZfaq. It's a Showtime show from a few years back, it's just comics talking comedy. Paul Provenza hosts, Bo is on the episode with Judd Apatow, Gary Shandling (RIP), Marc Maron, and Ray Romano. LEGENDS of comedy, and a 20yo Bo holding his own 👍🏻

With Bo, nearly everything in his shows is deliberate. His shows are more like a curated performance than an interactive comedy act. Like he said in one of his jokes, "Art is a lie. nothing is real." That being said, is is also genuine in that everything he puts in his shows he means completely. Obviously not the literally, much of it is satire, but the messaging.

Is this why he does the whole "I am Satan, lord of darkness" part in the "We think we know" finale of this special? He creates a catchy beat from the three clips of the vocal tracks with enough loops until the crowd can recognize what he's doing...then calls himself out. I think?
@hownot2junk803

I think it's unrelated cuz, right after, he points upwards, at what we would expect to be God, and hear crickets instead. Just a gag, that Satan responded but God didn't.

I know it's only a snippet in the beginning of the video, but about Bo's harsh words to guy who went onstage, there was someone who asked him on a Reddit AMA in 2016 to talk about the worst instance in which he had to kick someone out of a show, and Bo answered: "There was a drunk guy that wandered on stange in Atlanta and sat at my keyboard. That was strange. I think I told him to kill himself or something. Not my finest hour. [...] Also like, I wasn't totally 'safe.' I was most concerned with just getting the guy out of there, more than doing some sort of subtle take down of him."

I started watching because of the Bo reactions, and then the Taylor Swift reactions.. and then eventually I was like, “I don’t like 1D, but if he’s reacting to them he probably has some insightful things to say” and was happy to be right about that. Like you mentioned alongside the lyrics, it’s great to listen to music that actually SOUNDS good, no matter the stereotypes placed on certain genres or artist. I don’t care if it’s 1D, Taylor Swift, or NF. If I can tap my foot along with the beat, I can listen to it.

As an answer to "is it real or scripted" I'd say yes. Everything you see is real, his thanking is real and the message he wants to pass along is real AND everything you see is a performance down to the gesture, to the step he takes on this or that direction. Everything is perfectly scripted, but that means he's intentional about the serious and real parts of it as well as the over the top acting.

But, scrolling through, I can't believe, you, a reaction channel, hasn't reacted to Pisces by Jinjer yet! It's almost a whole genre upon itself on KZfaq! If you do decide to react to it, go into it completely blind. Don't look up the band or the lead singer, just know that they're a Ukrainian metalcore band, but they're instrumentals and overall musicality is spectacular. Happy listening!

oh boy if you think thats the wildest thing hes ever said you should see his early early stuff. hes talked about how when he started his career he was just a dumb 16 year old on the early days of when people starting becoming big youtubers and everything was just cringey offensive edgy content. he actually made a song about it in inside that you should check out! its called 'problematic', cuz well, yknow. but also i feel like even when he was being 'offensive' it wasnt ever in a truly mean spirited intention, he was just using the current landscape of the social climate to turn it around and throw it back into peoples faces, sort of holding up a mirror to the masses if that makes sense so maybe thats why hes never been truly 'cancelled'. hes never made a mean joke just to be like haha its funny to say fucked up things about people, its more like 'isnt it fucked up that people find this funny'.

Channel 5 News by Bo might be a good one to react to. It's a studio one, but really good

These vague corporate-style love songs have been around nearly as long as radio. Look at any of the Beatles' albums before 1966, half the songs are generic live songs designed to appeal to the literal hordes of teenage and younger girls that hung on their ever word.

Apparently he found out after one of his shows doing this that Justin Bieber had been in the audience, lol.

About the small reaction segment (that I'm guessing is on Patreon) about Bo kicking that guy out and telling him to k!ll himself, he has answered on a Reddit AMA regarding that night saying he feels ashamed of having done that (that is what I'm taking from it). Question: “Bo, when is the worst time you have had to kick someone out of a show? [...]” Answer: “There was a drunk guy that wondered on stage in atlanta and sat at my keyboard. That was strange. I think I told him to kill himself or something, not my finest hour. And appreciate the kind words dude!” “Also like, I wasn't totally "safe." I was most concerned with just getting the guy out of there, more than doing some sort of subtle take down of him.”

Oh interesting. So almost like it was a spur of the moment kind of thing and he didn't know how to handle it and ended up saying all that stuff but looking back on it realizes it wasn't he best moment.

@@SuffiReax yeah I definitely saw him panic up there, it was probably just out of stress. He's said on the same AMA that he can always barely manage to save the show after hecklers interrupt and it makes him nervous

I think you made the right choice in watching this one first, although the polished music video version is more appropriate for this song.

I just recently found your channel and am loving your Bo react videos, thank you for your thoughtful comments on his songs. Just out of curiosity, I noticed there's a lot of One Direction on your channel, is there a story there or you just really like them? :D Also what is the meaning of what you say at the beginning? Thanks again for your content, I'm really enjoying it and am glad I stumbled on your channel. Thanks for reading my silly questions. :)
