I definitely love that you've aimed this at hobbyists and recommend going cheap on equipment to start, helps give those entry level people confidence that they will be fine to start off with basic equipment instead of worrying about getting more expensive stuff.

I do professional board repair everyday when it comes to soldering irons you don't get more with more expensive ones. The important thing is to get a t12 cartridge style tip that has the heating element in the tip, not the old fashioned ceramic heating element that the tip sits around. There's tons of knock offs that can be had for as little as 20-30 bones. I have a hakko but I almost never use it and use my knock off t12 i got for 25 dollars on amazon. Also for board repair 2 soldering irons is much more valuable than 1 valuable one. It makes removing smd components very easy like smd resistors and leds. A good iron stand that preferably has a spot for brass shavings and a sponge is also a good investment. I don't use my hakko station much at all but I do use the stand.

I'm only 5 minutes in, and wow! I can't wait to check out more of your channel. And THANK YOU for truly starting with an introduction on budget equipment and scope of the video series... I've done very basic soldering and repairs for years, but always been more of a software guy, looking to learn more hardware repairs and understanding. Ok, onto the rest of the video!

Now that I will have all the necessary equipment (including an analog oscilloscope, for more learning) I will get a damaged or non starting powerbook board, so I can go along with you in all the basics more easily. I have an accessory question, if you don't mind : what can be written for a sensing current resistor, on the board ? (should it be written Rcs every time or most often) . I did see Louis Rossman using a software that links the schematics with the board layout (but it seem to be somewhat expensive, not really possible for my level of learning ;) ) Best regards

Hi, thank you for your tutorials. I need help with hp proone 400 g2 touch that has no power. I changed adaptor and even applied 19.5 from bench power supply but draws no current. I assume that indicate no short circuit on the board, but does not power up. I have reset the CMOS battery , but also didn't help. NO led light is on once you plug power in or when you press power button. Any idea what is it? Very much appreciated.

HELLO ADAMENT! Am an avid Subscriber, you are my first 'Go to' when diagnosing PC issues! I recently built a new Computer in my old Tower with an MSI Z390-A PRO Motherboard with an Intel Pentium Gold Processor G5400 CPU @ 3.7GHz! Next added 64.0 GB DDR4 3200 Ram! Also a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1 Video Card! Recently upgraded all my HHD's with an Intel 660p Series M.2 1 TB SSD Drive C and two WD I TB internal SSD's! My Computer now boots up completely for a cold start in 30 seconds!!!! (Once in a while when I turn it on, it Boots into the Bios Screen)!!!(But when I wont to boot into Bios, no matter what key combination I press it wont go into Bios on Command)! Windows will not display on my Digital Monitor but I can see the Bios Screen on another HDMI Output to my 32 inch TV! Am running XMP Mode and Gaming Mode on the MSI along with allocating 3/4 of my Ram to Process my Adobe Premiere 2022! My Question is: How do I get the computer to Boot into Windows EVERY TIME? And secondly, How do I get my computer to boot into Bios on command?

The problem is that there aren't really any schools that teach this kind of work. Everyone I know who does it is either self-taught, or has an electronics engineering background for product design/testing. I'm self-taught, and you can get pretty far just by watching others, learning, and practising - but the catch is that I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge for EE theory. When you get into the maths of how to calculate component values and stuff, I get left behind big time. Ohm's law is about my limit 😅
