I've seen a few playthroughs of this game and this one made me laugh the most! Please do more of these! A few great ones to try would be coup and cockroach poker (great bluffing games). Ive started to check out your other vids and really enjoyed those so far!

Telling the truth is just as fun! You still have to act, convince, and experience the tension of waiting if the sheriff is going to open yours or not. The soreness! :P

is it possible to play this game with a mixed bag of goods? I feel that way would make it more challenging for people to lie about whatever contraband they're bringing in..make it harder to recall what they're bringing in.

+Alpharion Omegon According to the rules, you have to only declare 1 type of good. That being said, you could certainly play around with it and see what house ruling something different would do.

Tantusar Prime To clarify... I was taught you can only take from 1 discard pile. And if you take from the face down pile, you can take any more from the discard pile. That is optional?

Bob Archer A quick look at the rules suggests that you can take from either (or both) discard piles, but you are right that you must take from the draw pile only after you've taken any you want from the discard piles.

I see a flaw in the games... Playing straight should make to a victory point "Surf".

Playing straight is only really rewarding if you get the sheriff to pay you off. He also needs to nab the other guys with the contraband. There's a luck element for sure but it's more unpredictable as someone could play very honestly and still possibly win.

lawyerd16 I meant to say the "math" should force players to send contraband in. The numbers for playing honest should be minimal.

John Sirbob Yeah, but you can declare only one product. Unless you get something crazy like 5 cheese, you have to lie in order to make stuff pass. Also remember, passed stuff gives you bonuses, and the sheriff doesn't lose money if he's wrong. That's the point, the sheriff should be a LOT less going to open the bags. Everything passes so if you are at disvantage you WANT him to pop things.

I don't own this game so if someone could explain this to me that would be great, but when the player is caught with contraband, does he lose money to the "bank" or does he give his money to the sheriff. The reason i ask this is that, why would someone ever pay to not open their bag since if they are willing to pay, its only logical that they would have contraband worth more than that amount and the Sheriff would thus make more money by not taking the bribe. On the other hand, if it went to a bank, then the sheriff would be willing to not open to gain money thus allowing a lot of bargaining but if they didn't bargain, he would still want to catch them to make them lose money.However, he would still pay them from his own pocket if they were telling the truth so its not like he would open every bag any chance he gets. So basically, sheriff wouldn't make money unless they bargain which seems like the point of the game. I guess one could ask to pay to not open a bag which is actually legal goods which would make him open it and then the trader would get money. Again, never played it so idk how this would work out, just an idea.

Wooze You do pay the Sheriff and not the bank if the Sheriff catches you with illegal goods. And while you are right, you usually wouldnt offer more money to the Sheriff than your illegal goods are worth (although you might if you are trying to trick them into opening it) both parties benifit from the Sheriff taking that bribe. There interestingly isnt a bank in this game, all the money you give or get goes to, or comes from other players.

+SauerGustavo Yep, its called the honest player strategy. There are some people that kinda make that little less powerful by reducing to half the amount of coins you get for king and queen, so it balaces a little bit. But i don't really think its necessary. I have played it normally and won aiganst a fully honest player. So it is really how you play the game, and if you get caught or not.
