The 10 worst games! This is a regular video series I like to do when visiting other content creators, to pick at the games they own and why I have a beef with them. Sort of. It's all real feedback but take it all with a grain of salt as well....the worst games are often not bad, they're just games that are good, but with my personal notes and picking fights around them.

To give 7 wonders architects some credit, I had a whole bunch of non board gamer's over and thought what's a simple game we can all play without it being too complicated. I brought out 7 Wonders, and every single person felt it was too complicated. I think as board games we get use too the mechanics board games have, and don't realize how complicated a game can really be for people that don't play them at all.

I believe that 7 wonders architect its a great game, not sure why Alex included here. My conclusion its quite simple, i can play 7 WA with mi daughter (5yrs). It's a great design, great components. Its a childs game, not sure why put it in the same place that 7 wonders or duel.

I play 7 Wonders Architects with my (almost) 4yo kid, and it's a GREAT game for kids imo. The decisions are simple, but you get a lot variety of stuff and each of them matters and push the game forward no matter the choice. It plays itself at the same time it doesn't, since you can make bad decisions. And managing to at least avoid the nonsense ones makes it great for teaching games in general.

You're most wrong about 7 Wonders Architect, it plays so fast and it's a great family game with amazing production. The individual trays make setup a breeze and building those wonders is extremely satisfying.

I've been in the hobby for a decade and have managed to get to 150+ games without culling anything, as well. Now I'm running out of shelf space and have some redundant games (both versions of The Crew and Libertalia, for example), so the inevitable reality of culling is coming up quick.

The thoughts on mysterium park are on point. I like parks play better than normal mysterium because it's easier to table. However the cards do not really help as clues

Hey Prof! So Wyrmwood table :) wanted to ask about their magnetic rail and accessories that attach to it - have you an opinion on the matter? Personally making my own table and wondering if the magnets are strong enough.

The magnets are very strong, but are only 1/2 of the support mechanism. The iron strips are recessed ~1in -- when under load, the wood of the accessory jams against the wood of the table above and below to prevent falling down. The magnets are strong enough to limit side-to-side motion and being pulled free, even though they are not in physical contact with the iron strip (when under load).

Now I'm tempted to get back KrosMaster Arena. I enjoyed my plays, but I didn't have a group. Now I have a person who plays skirmish/minis games with me - Super Fantasy Brawl - but do I need two games of that sort?

We got a really good one playing cards against humanity. It was basically: "Let's roleplay you'll be ____ and I'll be ___", and someone played Dick Chaney and the Middle East. Half of the table did not get it (we're from Argentina) but I explained how good that one was.

Viscounts is a delightful game. One of the best rondels in the business, a thinky card sequencing mechanic, and deck building that is less punishing than some other games, with plenty of ways to both thin your deck and acquire new cards.

I bought 7 Wonders architects for my nephews and niece, ages 11, 8, and 6. It is great for them and I don't think they could handle the original 7 Wonders right at this point.

Fireball Island is something that’s great not because of its intrigue and intricacies as a game or lack thereof; it’s great because you get to vicariously launch fireballs at family and friends - and that’s a good time for kids and kids at heart.

I ran out of space and it hurts to cull. My main reason to want to get a house is to not cull and keep adding lol (but I live in Cali 😭).

I got rid of standard Codenames b/c I got really tired of it, but I kept Codenames Marvel because if you play with fans of the IP (and *only* if you play with fans of the IP), it can be fun finding those esoteric connections between the different images/words in the matching of nerdy trivia. That said, the group at work I could enjoy this with came apart after the pandemic as people moved onto other jobs or left my state altogether, so I'm left wondering if I should divest my copy of it now. FWIW, I still have Codenames Pictures, Duet, and Disney, PIctures because it's lack of language dependence makes it a game I can play easily with my Korean relatives Duet, b/c it's a game I can play with my wife and I enjoy the coop puzzle it presents more than the original Codenames, and Disney b/c the family friendly mode and IP makes it a fun game to play with the nieces and nephews.

Your comment is about Fog of Love is the slight problem I have with Canvas. I either play thematically or I play to win. Not the same in Canvas and I always play thematically.

7 Wonders Architects and Mysterium Park are great games. Vicounts is...pretty good. I just feel the need to defend these. If these are your 10 worst, you must have a good collection for someone who doesn't cull games.

Love this series. Forbidden Sky and Krosmaster Arena are both on my sell/trade pile. We kept Forbidden Desert only of the three of those Forbidden games. Sky has the electronic circuit which is a bit gimmicky. I saw a 3d printed dust storm mini I want to get for Desert to put in the blank spot.

Krossmasster is based on the french Ankama works: the Wakfu/Dofus/Kros series (games, shows and comics), I think the show that is on Netflix is like the latest thing they made not the original.

I've played the original Fireball Island countless times as a kid. It was a unique game and all children always wanted to play it. It felt like an adventure. Now the next generation in the family also loved it as kids. Agreed it's not a game for adults, but this is just the nr1 kids game ever.

Love this video! I would love to see a top 10 favorites. Viscounts is an awesome game. I love it better than Architects for sure. I play everything at 2 though and Architects doesn't shine there.

I prefer Mysterium: Park to Dixit, I think Dixit barely feels like a game, it's too loose. Detective Club might be the best one though.

Forbidden Sky is pretty cool. The only things that suck are that you have to look at more detail than Forbidden Desert, and sometimes the rocket doesn't make the launching sounds when it should and you have to fiddle with the power loops even though you HAVE done it correctly. If Forbidden Desert didn't already exist, AND if it wasn't still fiddly, then it would get more buzz. But like well.... Forbidden Desert exists. But it's still worth playing a few times to see the (d)evolution in mechanics. I'd play it if it was in front of me, but I wouldn't pick it.

7 wonders is not a welcoming game. New people don't understand the concept of drafting and require a lot of explaining about the symbols, what does this do, how attacks work. 7 wonders architects is a great welcoming title. This is really required for new players and not bad for experienced.

viscounts is my favourite west kingdom game so far.. (haven't played any WK expansions yet) well, as she hasn't played at least two (haven't watched the whole video) of these games, I am not sure about this list.. :P

Unfortunately, I have to disagree on 7 wonders being gateway game. So many times I tried to teach it to people... So many stuff. The thing is, it's a great second play games. But for the first play, it's just terrible. Architects fixes that.

Lizard Wizard is essentially a darker version of Racoon Tycoon, wich is way shorter and more fun. I played Lizard Wizard at a boardgame club with 5 people and it took us 4 hours. Maybe we're really slow 🙂

because of the resource management I feel like people tend to overthink their turns in Lizard Wizard. it might be a more fun game if you gave people a time limit for their turn.

That you have problems with certain games is their problem and that the owners should justify themselves to you and that they are also doing it is completely out of line! I couldn't care less which game has now replaced which game. I play because I want to escape from everyday life and not because I want to show off with the hottest games! I would like to conclude with the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes: "People don't stop playing because they get old, they get old because they stop playing!"

I’ll (kinda) defend the two games that I crossover. 1. Fireball Island: in the collection due to nostalgia but also because my kids like me to set it up and just send the marbles careening all over the place. 2. Krosmaster Arena: You really need expansions for (just like any tournament game, think X-Wing, Super Fantasy Brawl even Magic the Gathering) otherwise it gets boring. I’ve collected to much of it (even Krosmaster Arena 2.0) but since they moved on to Krosmaster Blast and didn’t make it backwards compatible I’ve stopped collecting it.

Viscounts is FAR better than Architects (Architects is the lowest-rated in the series, btw, but was the first one produced so it's higher-ranked on BGG, but lower-rated). Viscounts is SO good. 9/10 for me.

I haven't played Codenames yet but the Marvel one is the only one that interests me. If regular Codenames is 10% better, I'll take that hit for a much more interesting theme any day.

That's fine, I think the point is unless your group is a huge Marvel fan group, it won't appeal to all because of the niche subject. The wordplay is also narrowed by bounding the scope of subjects.

Cards Against Humanity is a party game that isn't supposed to be played sober and it does that very well, if you are straight edge, hate parties or are easily offended you will obviously hate it and you only have yourself to blame...comparing it to a real game is just silly.

Everything he said about cards against humanity and the dirtiest joke winning is completely up to the judge of that round. If your party group has a bunch of dirty joke lovers then that's what happens. Maybe get friends that dont have low-brow humor. Not a flaw with the game at all.

Forbidden Sky is great! Or - at least, it can be great. Admittedly there can be times when the card and tile draw just make it impossible to win but when it works, it really works and delivers a great, cinematic co-op experience. There, I’ve said it 😅

Not including games because you've done them before in other videos is a bit of an odd choice. Likely gonna run into more and more where they haven't played them or are just indifferent. Only one I've played in this list are Cards Against Humanity

I felt Lizard Wizard was so convoluted and unfocused imo. I prefer raccoon tycoon because it is much more focused and family friendly.

The think the regular version of Codenames is boring already. I am not geeky enough to try the Marvel version. I don't cull games either, so I still own Codenames XXL. I also own Cards Against Humanity, which was given to me as I gift and I don't like it either.

and fireball island?!? i know its not the BEST game, but you gotta embrace the choas. the more expansions, people, and utter chaos and destruction going on the better. If you are playing it to score points and try to win, you are missing the whole point.

Forbidden Sky is just terrible on so many levels. The top being it’s so forgettable. Probably why no one speaks of it.

Fireball is TRASH. The card play is beyond boring and there’s no variety to speak of in those cards either. The goals/tasks are so uninteresting. I was expecting something light, silly, and simple but it subverted even my low expectations.

The smaller Target version is superior to the restoration version IMO. One it’s half the price or even less when on sale (got my copy for $12). Two it plays so much faster because it strips out the extra gamer elements the game doesn’t need and you’re left with a game you can finish in 30 minutes or less and still have fun rolling and flicking marbles without it overstaying its welcome. It’s still a super simple roll and move style game but less is more in this case. I don’t need set collection in this game and all the expansions just add more fiddly mechanics and time. I like it for 30 minutes. I don’t want to play it for an hour.

That sounds gatekeepish... you can be both. They are not mutually exclusive. I didnt start culling until I ran out of space. I have played 200 out of my 300 games. The 200 board games we have played them often. Would that make me a collector or a player?

I wanted to watch and enjoy this video because the premise sounded funny but my guy, listen, you need to drink less coffee. You talk so fast and your diction isn't clear and it's hard to understand what you're saying and I just lost interest because of it.
