Welcome to Deaf By Records!
I’ve been a long-time fan & watcher of many Vinyl Community channels that I appreciate and I thought that I’d get involved too.
This is my first VC post and I’m starting things off with a holy grail from electronic music legends & one of my all-time faves; Boards of Canada! I also talk a little about some of my background in music and share some of my recent purchases/recommendations on vinyl.
(AKA De(a)f B(u)y Records...but parentheses can't be used in an official YT channel title.)
Thanks for watching!

i can relate. totally. maybe not score-wise but as a dj i was (and am) always thrilled when artists / labels were sending me like upfront whitelabel promos / test pressings with like personal messages, dedications and stuff... doesn't happen that much anymore as vinyl promos aren't that common nowadays, sadly. but those records will always have a special place in my collection.

Totally! I appreciate that too. I used to receive swag and promo when I worked at HMV and volunteered at the University of Ottawa's community radio station, (CHUO 89.1 FM). I don't have many vinyl promos from back then but I have a couple, as well as many CDs and posters, etc. Definitely one of the perks for being in the music retail biz and radio way back when. :)

indeed.i'm still actively writing music reviews (check www.nitestylez.de for those as i stopped writing for magazines) and therefore get a lot of mostly electronic CD albums sent for review purposes which i do often unbox on my channel. and i'm still doing the occasional shift at hamburg's main electronic music record store. radiowise i did a few years on the hamburg based local station FSK where i had up to 24 live hours airtime per month in my peak a.k.a. every monday night from 1 a.m. to open end and later i switched to online broadcasts via byte.fm for a few years. right now i'm a bit off the radio track but there's things in progress and i might become a regular djmix contributor for a show on terrestrial FM radio again.

Apologies for my late reply...I finally had the chance to check out your blog & KZfaq channel - They're both very eclectic, very informative & you're very passionate about music (like me). I love discovering some of the artists you recommend. Keep it up! I've subscribed, thanks!

I'm not very familiar with the albums you chose to talk about Jay, but you present the subject very well...very pro. Off the subject, the first thing that caught my eye when I tuned in to your video was the stand-up stereo in the background...it's a classic piece that I also owned in the 70s. Don't know what happened to it though. I guess I changed with the times and bought a component system. Keep up the good work and thanks again for cleaning my most valuable Elvis Presley 78s vinyl collection that I love to play on my 78rpm turntable.

Thanks Ric! I appreciate your kind comments! Yeah, that classic (and Canadian) Electrohome Apollo 711 is one of my favourite collectibles. Space age fun! Mine also has an 8-track player. My main turntable for now is a slightly modified AKAI AP-100C...Thanks again for your encouragement, and it was my pleasure in helping clean some of your classic Elvis 78's! Thanks also for giving me some of your records that helped my collection grow!
