Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a KZfaq channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. So please, go ahead, subscribe and follow along for some fun outdoor adventures!

This was by far one of your best videos in recent times. Loved the look of those river banks lit up by those bow lights. Not gonna lie, I chuckled when you decided to just eat a can of string beans... I had to pause the video and go make myself a heap of deluxe nachos. Camping like that looked amazing. I know the conditions weren't the best but it still looked fun but bet it would have been great to do it with a couple more people and make some proper campfire dinner/breakfast. Hope you do some more of these nighttime river trips!

Thanks for the feed back. I have about 5 or so more campsites picked out along the St John’s river. I had some friends that were supposed to come with me this trip, but had other plans at the last minute. Thanks for watching and I’ll be so I’ll be doing some spring camping with my boat soon. I probably would have cooked over the fire if I brought another bag of firewood.

Truly an awesome adventure. It's great to get out away from all the modern things set up camp and enjoy the peace that always brings. Glad to see you took a long a firearm for your overnight adventure..you can never be too careful especially when so far off the beaten trail. Appreciate you taking us along and look forward to seeing your next adventure. Amazing boat by the way... you've got it decked out perfectly.😎🇺🇸🚤⛺🔥🚙

Your doing my style of camping. I canoe or kayak and use a Jungle Hammock. I found out at a young age the best thing here in Florida is a good Jungle Hammock when camping. Have had a lot of camp meals cooked over palm fronds as starters then the stalks or boots from the palm as the fire wood. Started in the late 50's as a teen & use to take a 22 rifle then about the last 40 years a handgun as protection and have only used it one time. Not for critters , they leave me alone but are a nuisance at times ( Especially Racoons ). It was because some jerk shot at me. I fired a few rounds in the ground and they vanished and I sure looked for him or them. Really like your boat , set up quite efficiently and well organized. I appreciated your video , brought back a lot of river trip memories.
@OverlandFlorida
@OverlandFlorida 6 ай бұрын
Good memories back then. I take the hammock because it doesn’t take up much room. But it’s not very comfortable for me anymore, it takes forever for me to fall asleep and it’s hard to sleep on my side. So I probably won’t use it much anymore. I always have a firearm with me, especially when I’m alone in the woods. We have people driving around and shooting all the time. So there’s a higher chance of getting shot by someone when attacked by an animal.
@Oldsparkey
@Oldsparkey 6 ай бұрын
@@OverlandFlorida I agree : The worse varmint in the woods walks on two legs and is normally from some city. If you are a back sleeper then try a Bridge hammock. The bridge Hammocks were designed for back sleepers and would make you think you are in your bed. Some of the best ones are from Jacks are Better , Warbonnet Outdoors and Dutch Ware. Get a double bottom one , an air mattress , 3/4 inflated ( insulation ) slides in between the double layers and the double layers also keep mosquitoes from having you as the guest of honor for their picnic. If you are unfamiliar with hammocks , A copy of " the Ultimate Hang " by Derek Hansen describes them quite well.
@OverlandFlorida
@OverlandFlorida 6 ай бұрын
@@Oldsparkey id say drink locals are probably the most dangerous. I’ll have to look into those hammocks, thanks.

What part of Tampa bay are you living in. ? I’m in St. Petersburg .. I’m waiting on tax season to buy this new Suzuki 4 stroke and I’ll be back on the water. The mercury I have now was too much for the whaler and I’m dying to get back to the springs

I actually live in Lakeland. Suzuki makes a great engine, I loved the one on my riverhawk. It was super quiet and fuel efficient.

@@OverlandFlorida I got a 2022 Suzuki 25 4 stroke on hold through a customer at work , he’s a marine mechanic and his customer has it just sitting on an engine stand in the garage , he says it has only 20 hours on it and will sell it for $2,000. Apparently the guy bought it with another boat as a package deal and the motor just sits. So he’s saving it till I get the money. A brand new motor nowadays is atleast $4 -5 grand ..the motor I got for free a while back turned out to be too much for the whaler , it was heavy and ran like crap , i mean it ran good , just not up to my standards where i can trust taking it long distance , plus when I throttled it to neutral it would swamp the boat. The motor weighs 204 pound and the new Suzuki is like 150, I’m sure I can sell the 50 Merc for atleast $1000 and be good to go

@@OverlandFlorida yeah I agree , I wanted a 30 tohatsu , but this Suzuki is way cheaper , either way it’s a lot better then the gas guzzling 50 mercury 2 stroke lol. If I don’t sell the 50 I’ll buy another boat to put it on. But for now it’s too much for my boat , it’s not the horsepower, it’s the weight. Plus I miss having a 4 stroke motor. Maybe I’ll sell the 50 Merc and the 15 Merc 4 stroke and hopefully break even lol
