I sealed mine with 2 coats of fiberglass resin to make the wood water resistant.

Need to leave it out in the sun to fade that carpet some so it'll match a little better. Looks great though. I have a bench seat extension I use in my tin rig for spring sight fishing

I personally don’t like spray contact glues. In my experience doesn’t hold for long.
