How did we do on this big job? It was a bit challenging as we tried to maneuver all the ways to get this generator in the bottom of the boat! We think we did a pretty good job working through all the complications! How many of you have had this done? We are working on another generator install but we plan to take it apart and installing it while the yacht is down on the docks.

During the generator lift, I appreciated no ego’s were flying around. Good job working as a team, and respecting everyone’s thought on how to accomplish the task!! Great video!!

The generator is how it’s done. My diy marina has a fork truck that has extendable capability, making it very easy. Some boat manufacturers just don’t think that anything will ever need servicing. I change my shaft seals with an entirely new PYI/PSS every other bottom job. If I had to remove that motor every time I would sell…. 😀
@WillFixThat

PYI/PSS is Matt’s favorite shaft seal! We sent that 72ft north because the whole deck or back end had to be cut off because it had all the salt water damage in the engine room. The 2 generators, 2 sea keepers all needed to be removed. Crazy how they build boats!

i would have used a forklift jib. that's a 5-ton forklift so maybe a six-foot jib would have worked out great.

We have both but it didn’t have the maneuverability as the lull!

The easiest way, since this isn't your first lift. Make a cross bar to fit the forks, then attach a chain fall to drop it down.
@WillFixThat

We used to do many high HP water pumps for the studio and chain falls are a must. They make mini ones and also forklift extensions but I'm sure it's not your pickle fork. I do like for safety is to have double C clamps on each side of the fork to control chain.........Nice to see you all worked together.........a rarity now days :)

Great job on the generator. The only thing I could add that may of helped is remove the fence from behind the forks on the lift. That would have given more over head clearance. Those are made to come off for just such occasion. That was surely a tight spot.

Awesome! You need to hire an 800 gorilla and 2-3 oompa loompas. They would work for bananas and chocolate respectively.

I have installed a few by using a Lull like the one you rented, I also use a stinger and align the unit over the whole and let the chain fall let it down.
