The boat sank over a sensitive and fragile reef off the coast of the Dominican Republic. The insurance company hired a salvage team to raise the boat and sink it in deep waters away from the reef. This video was shot by the son of one of the salvage team members, thus the reason for the shaky video action. It was part of a series of documentation to show the insurer.

If that's where I think it is, that boat wasn't sunk on accident. Apparently in Florida it's a pretty common occurrence for folks to buy boats they can't afford, and when they find out that the vessel is going to be repossessed, they go out to a lagoon or shallow bay and shut down the bilge pumps. This not only sinks the boat, but it also makes it look like an accident. Pretty big problem, accident or otherwise...

I'm sure that's true, but I doubt, if it is sea worthy AT ALL, they can sink it just by shutting down the pumps, pumps are not designed as the primary means of keeping a boat afloat. If the pumps are the primary way of keeping the boat from sinking, I doubt anyone would buy it, in the get go. And if they want to make it look like an accident, I doubt they would chose any kind of "shallow", too easy for investigators to look her over. IMO

do you dive the vessel to clean out as much of the pollutants etc before you raise? there seems to be a bit of diesel or whatever floating on the water, just curious of the process.

no the wreck of titanic is to fragile to be taken up. even if it goes up from beneth the waves it will break when going up fast

That's one of those Cheoy Lee sport fishers. Not very fast, and more looks than substance. Sad that she was sunk for insurance. They can be bought very cheap for their size, but you need a whole maint crew to keep it afloat.

That is a big boat . Seems like it would have a number of water tight bulk heads that must have all been open to cause it to sink Odd for sure. I wonder what became of it after it was raised
