A very interesting documentary about Bob Burns, a world famous archivist and historian of movie props and other artifacts from worlds greatest (and not so great) science-fiction and horror motion pictures. The documentary feature a trip to Bob's basement that was turned to some kind of museum, preserved with models, miniatures, masks, costumes, monsters, creatures and props from different sci-fi and horror movies varied from the dawn of the cinema to these days. Bob talks about his career as special effects prop collector, special effects artist and actor as well as revealing a detailed information about his collection and the stuff that he bought, found or was endowed to him by Hollwood's most famous special effects artists during the years.

I love this guy! And I love his dedication and passion. How I wish I could have met him. As we all well know, it's not just model monsters and space ships- These props are the true STARS of the film's that lit us up as kids and continue to love today. In my humble opinion, cinema is the greatest, richest and most powerful art form and artistic expression ever created by man. And, by extension, these props are sacred relics of that magnificent art form. Best wishes to all my like- minded friends 😄

In 1966 as a kid I saw creature from the black lagoon, scary, Bobs story of the costume was really cool. Thank you. The movie was actually on tv, a black and white tv, my cousins were there, which I was grateful for.lol

That's a creature from the 1955 sci-fi film This Island Earth, known as the Metaluna Mutant. The flick was unfairly singled out for derision by the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 for their lone feature film version of the show. I suspect it was because they needed a more classy and less Ed Woodish production to center their film around. It was a unique attempt at intelligent sci-fi, ranking only 2nd to Forbidden Planet for its design, visual effects & stunning color. Worth checking out.

I don't think the silicone masks will dry rot. Different kind of material. Also one thing you might consider to preserve the masks is to immerse them in an Acrylate resin. Of course they would be forever sealed in that and you would not be able to take them out and wear or handle them again, but they would be preserved as good museum pieces.

Shame Bob didn't get his hands on all 3 Bruces from JAWS (instead they were dumped in the back lot of Universal to rot away).
