It is heartbreaking for the baby to be abandoned, a whole way of life abandoned, such a mysterious force at work - a masterpiece as always.

He was totally present here. He can place your minds eye there when he wants to. I've seen him twice one was a mess and then the next time he was completely awesome in every respect.

A diamond, even in comparison to his uncounted. I hear two guitars. I wonder sometimes if he hurt his hand in the 66' bike wreck. His guitar playing was technical better in the early years. Thank you! Love it. There is an episode of Little House where Johnny Cash uses this old song.

For most of this song he does have another guitar, but it is possible to sound like 2 guitars doing finger picking

Dylan drips of talent as a composer/songwriter ... But I have to say I never got how he got so famous and revered by his singing... I get all the rest of course but his singing is to say different even lacking as far as vocal strength etc... But he obviously makes up for that artistically! Respect!!!

It's Dylan's expression and storytelling. Somehow, music videos or something, singing contests perhaps, made singing a kind of vocal gymnastics event. Maybe it always had that element. But singing is storytelling, at its most moving, with or without vocal gymnastics. Dylan jumped past bullshit, intentionally or unintentionally, into an empathy-sympathy-pathos circle between him and listeners. Those who get him probably put way up on their list of favorite singers. I think Caruso was a great singer too. But I don't see Dylan as less of a singer. I see Caruso who practiced operatic singing techniques.

Also sounds like its sped up to at least 1.25x speed and was recorded with a fax machine, but I love the song and Dylan. Agree about the Carter Family.

@@amandanorton296 I know..I hear you on that. This is a traditional song and you often you see Dylan wrote it. Tons of folks have done it long before Dylan; English ballad 1720's.
