Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (Live in Santa Monica, 1965) [AUDIENCE TAPE]

I uploaded this entire show to my channel a couple years back, but the quality was barely listable. Since then, I found a new version of the tape, which I will be uploading in full soon. Here is a sneak peek. Even though the quality isn't great, compared to other audience recordings during this period, it's immaculate. The person who recorded this must have spent several hundred dollars on this tape machine, and we're very lucky the tape survived.
This a hilarious version of one of Bob's classics. He seems to be mocking his 1963 self.

@@augi333 Yes..Dylan did in this version..Just listen closely at 2:01 . You can slow it down to 0.75x if you want to hear it closely .

Dylan seems to be one of the only artists that can make the different interpretations of the songs he has become tired of still sound as good as the actual versions of the songs themselves. Hats off to one of the greatest singer/songwriter/performer/artist of all time.

I wonder if he remembers the woman who inspired the song every time he sings the song, or if, over time, the song detaches from its muse & becomes a thing unto itself, just a song that he's performing because he knows it's a crowd favorite. IOW, I wonder if he happens to be thinking a lot about Suze-- fondly or sadly or however-- so maybe that's why he chose to perform that song in that way on that particular night. This particular 1965 performance was not that long after he & Suze Rotolo broke up & the emotions sound pretty raw, at least to me. Maybe I'm just reading things into it. Seems like he hasn't performed DTT very often in concert over the decades. More recent reports suggested he was really brokenhearted when Suze died in 2011 & he was seen praying at the Wailing Wall.

I really love Bob's 1965 performances of Don't Think Twice. His delivery of the lines is, dare I say, electric. Another great upload, Swingin'.

This was the first song I heard from Dylan. I was 14 and did not even speak english. But I knew I found the sound that I love. This was over 40years ago, and I can say Bob is part of my life. Thanks for sharing. Like 201.

This is an excellent audience tape from 1965 & really good version of this song by Dylan, crowd really enjoying it. By the way a few seconds into this tape I heard a girl say something like I don’t know how to turn it over? Maybe she was the one with tape machine? Thanks Swingin’ for this sneek preview.
