This is missing most of 50 years between 1970-2020. Maybe more sadness from Rolling Thunder to third decade of 21st Century. This is the first opportunity I've taken to learn anything about him (beyond his name change) and disappointed that hardly anything of the missing years was mentioned. My love of folk music starting in 1958 was centered more on Randy Sparks and the New Christy Minstrels, Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver.

Saw Bob (the 1st time) in Portland OR in March, 1966. I was 12 years old. The experience blew my mind & changed my life. Now at 70, my fondest memories are of the numerous live concerts I've attended whenever he toured the Pacific Northwest. Dylan & The Dead in Eugene, Dylan & The Band in Seattle, to name just a few. All unforgettable.

Hey cat, I'm 71, Black from Berkeley. I have been on his trail since '64. I absolutely love him. Started collecting his boots in'71, seen him a jillion times, sat with him and his friend in the wheelchair, I can't remember it now, in SF. The three of us off the lobby. Slow Train just out. Anyway he's who he is. Talked straight shit that night, no glamour. Thanks for letting me tell a stranger.

I am 69 tomorrow, i first saw bob in 1978 at Blackbushe Aerodrome near Camberley, surrey ,England I had qued for tickets in Leeds for 12 hours for concerts at Earls Court London 14 nights he was appearing for , they sold out a promoter called Harvey Goldsmith, got him back to England 3 months after at an open air concert. Nicknamed the hippies graveyard , They say attendance was 250 thousand, i remember going in to the concert thinking i was at the back, . And after reading a newspaper, i stood up and could see the back of the crowd . Since i have seen him 8 times further, the last 2022 at the motorpoint arena nottingham. He was brilliant.

I’m 30 and I think you are all wonderful people lol. I’d love to just shut up and listen to your stories. I saw dylan when I was 17 at the convention center in NJ, Leon Russell opened. To be like 100 feet from a man whom I’ve listened to for countless hours alone in my room - whether I was in the ecstasies of congruency or the pitfalls of heartbreak, his music has always and will always be there for me. I love all fellow Dylan lovers. Peace to all you fine people.

To this day the man is still touring the country & I’m personally going to see him perform on 11/07/23 at the legendary Capital Theater in Portchester, NY home to Joey’s Sports Bar & Grill where I personally perform music regularly. Please go out & support live music wherever you live it’s good for your soul. Bob is 82, but he’s a trooper & keeps on keeping’ on to keep the music in our soul’s alive & well. I am 68 now but w/bad arthritis it's hard for me to walk far- even on a walker - - - where I live now in a high rise studio, in Passaic, N.J. there was once Capitol Theater where many wonderful friends took me to see the best - classic bands ever - 1971 my older brother Bill took me to The Garden 4 the Concert 4 Bangladesh - and Bob Dylan showed up. It was mesmerizing to see him - and the rest of the super- rest --- superstars there. I would like to go for more concerts - since you mentioned it - perhaps I will come to where you play. God be you - me - and Bob Dylan - 4 now - just to begin on...

I have grown up with Bob Dylan’s music since when I was 16years old, now 77. I play harmonica with friend on guitar, I have an electric piano to fill the in. We play his songs and other old rhythm and blues. Bob has given us great deep felt lyrics and unique tunes, his music will live on stimulating unlimited generations to come. My family generations ate so much like Bob’s but I was adopted in the Uk and used to listen to the music or from radio Caroline etc from a transistor radio even had it on in my old car! With love and respect to all we meet whenever they are. We share this earth for a very short time and we cannot take it with us when we leave at the end of our slotted time. Peter M V

Bob was not afraid to speak the truth. He wrote, "you're gonna have to serve somebody, it may be the devil, or it may be the Lord but you're gonna have to serve somebody." There are only two kingdoms after we die. The Kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. Bob knew this will. We are saved by Grace through faith. No religion needed. Just faith, faith plus nothing.

I like Bob Dylan, but I think his harmonica playing is horrible to listen to. "Oldies" with guitar, electric piano (I thought it was called Hammond Organ? The kind of electric piano music made specially in the 60's by band like The Doors and many others, creating a special feeling and fitting really good into "hippie" music, progressive and psychedelic rock), electric guitar, bass and drums, are better then anything made today. The last great music was made in the 90's, is my feeling as a 44 year old. Thank you for sharing. Alv V, Norway

This is truly hilarious. I was unwillingly riveted as if watching a car crash. For all the work that went into collecting story nuggets & photographs, it seemed the entire staggering load was just dropped on the floor and the subsequent mess picked up as is and thrown onto video. Leaving aside the verbal mispronunciations, blatant errors (two non-existent double albums are reported), and ridiculous title and intro words that are never supported or revisited, any connection to audio & video tracks seems purely accidental. The lack of any coherent story or timeline in the narrative amplifies this unintentionally schizophrenic presentation. Editorial judgement appears to have been made with era 2004 AI software. Fleeting glimpses of rando musicians the computer must have thought were Dylan give the viewer that truly unexpected tough. If the voice narration was human, we can be sure he never saw or had any familiarity with the subject. This extraordinary achievement is unlikely to ever be surpassed. Five Stars!!!

The highlight was actually when his opener joined him , Tom Petty , and they rocked the stage ! The second time was in Japan , a much smaller concert hall , and just him and a small band . He came out in a Spanish Bolero of black and silver with no hat ! I rushed the stage and watched his amazing performance 3 meters from the stage ! I was just amazed by his talent and legacy of his work! I play many of his songs with friends and everyone knows the tunes ! Thankful My life has been filled with Bob Dylan music !!!!!!

I lucked out in the first draft lottery and 329 has been my favorite number ever since! That doesn't mean I would have shown up to be inducted otherwise into this utterly evil war; instead I would have moved to Canada as soon as possible. It would have been a good move in any case, since Canada provides Universal Health Care to all its citizens despite their economic circumstances - like every other actually *civilized* country except the USA, where low-income people are literally thrown out in the street if they can't pay their hospital bills! This is unspeakably cruel and unnecessary, but even the Democrats don't do much to stop it for some reason, and innocent people *DIE* because of it!

I listened to your album "The Times, They are a Changin' since 1963, or whatever year you released it. That was on a mono, very cheap record player, and think I wore the vinyl out. I listened a lot, and stopped sometime after your set of aging guy songs, twenty years ago. So, you're a businessman now? You've always been one, but that's that's the real reason we have so much of your art to dissect. Thank You, Sir, for living such an interesting life.

Born in '54 and a self taught folk guitarist with a fairly good soprano voice, Bobby Dylan was my favorite male musician and female musician, Joan Baes, was a great influence on me. This documentary on Dylan is spectacular! Why in the world, though, would UTube title it the Sad state of Dylan at age 80??? Anything BUT sad. Thanks for this presentation.

I like the many pictures of Bob Dylan and I thank you for that, but... Why did you put this kind of title ("How he lives is sad") for the video? You didn't talk about sadness. One more thing: why did you skip most of the things he did from 1969 to 2020? I know that his life is very long and full of things to tell, but you shouldn't leave behind half of his career.

This is one weird video - surely it is AI generated. The narration is on the cold and creepy side and the title has NOTHING to do with the content - meaning it doesn't support the claim. There is just something missing from this video - its fact competent and that's about where it ends. There is something empty, hollow and dumb sounding about the presentation. Its too bad people don't seem to notice and just comment as if it were a normal video. I strongly dislike the presentation in this video and hope never to see anything like it again. If I do check out more videos by this channel it will only be to observe whether it has similar failings. But, I won't be a subscriber, sorry.

The narrative sounds very AI-ish. The story told is one that is quite common among artists. The intimate details are different but the story, the story of what happens in life to artists is transparent as an artist develops their story through their art. My hope for those listening to this narrative is to take the time to listen to the vast discography produced by this talented musician and poet. My opinion of course.

There's no sadness in this entire video. It was titled that to get clicks. "Dylan's early years" would make a suitable title for this video, that covers the 1950s and 1960s exclusively. At the very end, it leaps ahead to 2020 and throws in his last few appearances, but it has nothing to do with him being 80 or any small hint of sadness. I did like the photos.

This man is and has always been Vitality. Thank you for the audio biography. I saw him open for Nirvana in 93 and for Neil Simon in 99. He's the reason I went to both. Biographer, you forgot to mention how much he supports and loves other artists. How generously he's shared and written for/with others. Like Old Crow Medicine Show. Tom Petty is also a great, great, self-evolving artist favorite of mine, but Bob Dylan has been my all- time favorite song- writer since I was 14. I'm 46 now and also love Maynard Keenan, as he loved Kurt Cobain...yes?

No. . the "SAD" headline thing concerns how this video maker got us and 143,000 other people to watch it. It is also sad that the producer doesn't know the difference between Joe Cocker and Dylan. There is obviously nothing sad about Dylan's life other than the usual "life's joys and sadnesses" of which he has had plenty and knew how to express them in a way we all identified with. A brilliantly talented man who has lived life well. "Hail Zimmy!"

Bob Dylan would take great offense to that assumption. Because that is all it is . Life as he knows it is a risk and he's taken one after another. He's the epitome, the poster persona of life is one risk at a time. 🎉I celebrate his flaws, endeavors, accomplishments and sadness. His humanism, and his complex and quiet rumblings. Imo Dylan creates out of his complex depths of where life has taken him, in love, arts, philanthropy, religion, philosophy and politics and more. Every realm of human joy and suffering, every milestone and setback he creates lemonade of lemons, he is 80+ and still delivering his hearts desire. 💕🎉🎉🎉🎉Kudos to you Bob Dylan, kudos to the forces of life you manage to fortify from not forfeit from. You sir are a remarkable man. Dylan, Elston Gunn, Bob Zimmerman, surely your family all of them, your wife, x wives, children grandchildren 🎉🎉CELEBRATE YOU. LIFE LESSON FOLLOW THE DYLAN RULE BE YOU
