Well-written, but they made a major factual error: they claimed Gwen Verdon was divorced from Fosse, when they never divorced. They separated but were still legally married when he died.

He trained me from a very young age. He always said kid hurry up and turn 18 so you can work in one of my plays. I got the best happy birthday call a few day's after saying you ready Kiddo? Happy Birthday he died 20 minutes after I got the birthday call I waited for gone. Proud I at least got the gift of his technique from Bob. Bob didn't teach anyone. I just got lucky. I miss you dearly you tought me so much even yelling teaching me if I ever find out you did anything dumb. He was just bob to this little girl. Kiss Adler for me. She was the best Agent.

@@justinb954 - That is such a tired cliché & stereotype. There are a lot of straight male dancers. In fact, I'd wager there's more straight male dancers today as opposed to 30yrs ago when Fosse died. Broadway has come a long way in the last few decades and there's a lot more to musical theatre now than shows like The Sound of Music and Hello Dolly. Broadway has become more hip, exciting and "cool" thanks to shows like Spring Awakening, RENT, American Idiot and Hamilton, just to name a few. The Great White Way has come a long way from Rodgers & Hammerstein and so too has the diversity of the performers.

These top news agencies got so much information wrong. He was with his third wife who did not divorce him when he died. One report says it was the opening night while another says it was the shows final rehearsal. If it was the opening, he was the kind of man who would have been there. They reported that he recently suffered a heart attack, it was something like fourteen years earlier that he suffered that heart attack. His style was perfection and he brought a new sexuality to dancing that caught Michael Jackson's admiration who reportedly wanted Fosse to direct Thriller. The idea of the gloves and socks was Fosse's, Micheal used it with his flare. Michael idolized Fosse and became the next in a line of dancers created by Fosse's influence. He was a great man, talented and driven and gone to soon.
@barbee0715

I always assumed the white socks were from Gene Kelly. I attributed the glove and the high water pants to Fosse, though (Steam Heat).
@ExposeDrift
@ExposeDrift 4 жыл бұрын
Jackson was far more of a creation of James Brown, John Bubbles and Fred Astaire... Fosse used jazz dance moves that existed decades before his career began, so to say the likes of Jackson were created by Fosse's influence is just absurd.
@barbee0715
@barbee0715 4 жыл бұрын
@@ExposeDrift Was referring to the wardrobe (socks, glove, highwater pants) rather than the jazz moves-but highly likely those were also taken from the jazz dancers from the 20's and 30's.

Judging by his example, adversity also makes us insecure, always hungry for more admiration, attention and adulation, however superficial and fleeting, and it leads to the inability to sustain a long-term monogamous relationship in which the partner is not just an object to be used and dumped whenever one feels like it.
