My dad served in ww2 He was in the first marine division Sargent machine gun Group he had a command under him served in so Pacific On two islands, Palau and oakinawa He told me a story when the war started he was station in san Diego machine gun instructor they gave him personers who were trying to get out of jail for serving in the war , they didn't want to learn how to shoot , and my dad told them that they will put them on the front lines to draw fire you guys will be pick off like ducks in a barrel After he made that speech, they got serious! Thank you all who served our country 🇺🇸✝️ when you were called to serve . Bless all of you .

My Grandfather was part of the service force that transported him around the ETO after VE Day. He actually drove that group around and had autographs from them all. He lived until he was 99 and always smiled when you mentioned their names. Wonder if they knew then how special they were to so many.

He lived till 100 yrs old. What a life he lived. Funny how he is remembered more than the dead soldiers after it ended.
