Bob Iger HATES the Splash Mountain Replacement?! But Disney May Have a Campaign to STOP Critics!

Starring ‪@TheTrentReport‬
A new report by ‪@MickeyViews‬ claims that Bob Iger was given a walk-through of the Splash Mountain replacement and was utterly unimpressed. The Disney CEO is reported to have told Imagineers it is boring. Still, if another rumor is to be believed, that might not stop Disney from maligning critics of the ride. Today, we're examining what could be going on with a huge embarrassment coming to Disney Parks in 2024.

Fun Fact, the Magic Kingdom Splash mountain was painted a different color than the California and Tokyo attractions to create better Sightlines with Big Thunder. Imagineering even changed the Music on the Florida ride, crafting a more Country undertone because the ride was located in Frontierland as opposed to Disneyland were it was built in Critter Country. Those attention to details is what made Disney World the world's most visited theme park and shows the passion the previous generation held for Walt's vision of a fully themed and immersive experience. Its disappointing to see that management has lost that reverence.

“Don’t judge it before it’s complete!” Well, considering the fact that this is happening because they felt they had to get rid of Splash above all else and taking everything related to it and the characters out of the parks, it’s kinda hard not to be judgmental. I know Disney wants me to treat this as a new original attraction but if they wanted me to do that, they should have just actually built a brand new ride and left Splash alone.
@TheFoxFromSplashMountain

I will judge it before it's complete. Disney clearly thought that interior footage was good enough to be shown to the public, therefore, we are allowed to judge what is being presented to us. And frankly, compared to how it used to look, it's lazy and embarrassing. If you're going to replace one of the best Disney attractions ever built, then that replacement had better be something truly groundbreaking. But so far, that's definitely not the case.

The overarching goal was to destroy one of the most loved attractions in the Magic Kingdom (short of putting graffiti on the Castle). They did it because they want to make it a sacrifice AND they wanted to smear a whole group of people who never asked for the attraction to be closed. The attraction itself was an important part of American folklore more sophisticated than the insulting trash it is being replaced by.

A PatF themed ride should have been something like a covered, black light decorated roller-coaster with snapping gator heads over the tracks to scare the riders and Friends on the other Side jump scares, with wild ragtime and jazz as the backdrop. Not a re-make of Splash Mountain. I don't care if the Br'er characters are 'problematic.' People learn from their past mistakes, and erasing that is a disservice to the park and how far Disney has come over the last century.

There is something I think you missing with all the discussion of DEI and ESG. Disney has increased non-white faces in their films, TV, and park themes along with making them boring. But what Disney has not done is increase non-white attendance in their parks. Disney parks are among the most segregated places in America. Only a small minority of African Americans and Hispanics can afford the tickets. It rather destroys the hoped-for impact of DEI in your output if you price the parks beyond what many minorities can afford.

As I understand it, Walt Disney used to be involved with every aspect of the attractions at the park, from inception to opening. Iger waits until the attraction is more than 50% complete to look at it? That's to late. This example explains why the movies are bad. Management does not get involved until it's too late. There's no creative direction. All that being said, with Bob Iger heading up the company, maybe it doesn't make any difference if he's involved or not. I think if Mr Iger said he loved Tian's Great Adventure, I would probably be more horrified.

At my work, tons of Disney park fans, are all saying the remake of Splash Mt. is going to be a make or break for Disney at this point. They took most peoples most favorite ride and changed it for no reason, destroyed kids memories of the park. If this ride is this bad, they should just not open it and let it rot. That's essentially admitting that he is disengaged and disinterested. I've said this on my channel, and I'll say it here: I'm from New Orleans and I ADORE the Princess and the Frog movie. They gave the first African American Disney Princess another ride's hand-me-downs, and the think that's LESS racist? Really? To be clear, I do not support the Splash Mountain racism narrative, nor do I care about Tiana's ethnicity. It is simply the complete lack of logical thought in the whole thing. When you remove those classic attractions, you are removing a crucial part of the Disney experience that simply cannot be replaced.
