Whether you are interested in fishing or not, this is such a good show to watch. Relaxing, entertaining and wholesome, it's the best show to watch on a rainy day

There aren't many TV programmes that you could describe as "beautiful"...but this is certainly one. Two guys that happen to be comedians (and pals) just hamming it up so naturally. I only came across this show a couple of months ago and it is a very "feel good" programme. The fishing is good fun, but the main theme is about friendship and enjoying each others company.

Gone Fishing is one of the best programmes on TV. Relaxed, funny and beautifully shot. It is a friendly hug!

I hate fishing and have zero interest in it, but this is one of my favourite shows. It is just two very funny men, hanging out with each other, being mates. The fishing actually forms a small part of the show, and even then it is about how they interact with each other when fishing, rather than the fishing itself. It is a beautiful show - no matter what my mood, this will always just make me happy.

Hi Mandy, so glad you’ve found this show. I personally have never had any interest in fishing but this is a truly beautiful show. Bob and Paul are old friends from the comedy circuit and came back together after both having heart problems. It’s a show about their friendship and the banter they have together. Some fantastic scenery, great photography and cinematography. Some unusual accommodation a bit of healthy cooking and some great music. The fishing is just the cement that ties it all together. 😀🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

After Bob's triple heart bypass Paul took him fishing to get him out of his funk and they ended up getting a TV show out of it.

Paul Whitehouse is a comedy genius! I also saw him in the West End a couple of years ago - he played the parts of Grandad and Uncle Albert in the musical of Only Fools and Horses and was the star of the show.

The funniest of their gone fishing compilations is one called Oh Paul, I've Fallen! which is just 3 minutes of Bob falling over. One of those where you feel a bit guilty for laughing but you can't help it.

This is one of the most endearing TV shows on UK TV ... It shows the best human friendship between two silly old buggers ... just how it should be between friends... the fishing is just incidental but always funny. I love it. 😊

You've seen Paul before, he was at the table in the "Women, know your limits" video. He did a lit of stuff with Harry Enfield and was a big part of "the fast show" which is also hilarious.

Great show, each week new area with lots of scenery around the UK and healthy cooking too not much fishing just new found mates arseing about.

I got hooked on this show! (Deliberate pun!). Aside from all mentioned already, you get to see how beautiful the UK is as they travel to a different area each episode.

'mi' in preference to 'my' is all a part of many English dialects. Bob originates from North Yorkshire, Teeside and Paul, though brought up in London, was born in Wales. Though if you look at most English dialects, (working class and to some extent, Middle class too,) the use of 'mi' rather than 'my' is quite common.

Late at night, after a big dinner, you're tired you have work in the morning but you need to relax, you watch this. It's like the fishing equivalent to Bob Ross's Joy of Painting.

Paul Whitehouse is best known for his TV work with Harry Enfield (hence the joke that Enfield was one of the comedians Bob listed who Paul supposedly hates) and for making The Fast Show with Charlie Higson and others, which is very rapid-fire sketches, hence the name. You might be interested in their 'Chanel 9' sketches, which is supposed to be a parody of what vaguely-Spanish or Greek TV news looks like to English-speakers who don't speak the language.

Hi friend, you should find some best clips of Paul Whitehouse doing his comedy, he was one of the best at character comedy 20 years ago.

They've both known each other since their 20's, Mandy... Just about every time they met... They had constantly talked about going fishing together... But unfortunately they never did... Paul Whitehouse had a couple of arterial heart stents implanted in about 2010... And around five years later in 2015... He had helped his long time friend Bob Mortimer... Through his recovery after his triple coronary bypass operation... They admitted that the idea of going fishing together... Had started to feel a bit like now or never... So they pitched an idea for them both to make a relaxing fishing programme to BBC bosses... And luckily they agreed to make it with them... Most people would probably class their lighthearted show... As a mixture of laughter... silliness... life stories... memories... with beautiful scenic countryside views... and of course... friendship... What more could you want!?... 👍 Although the programme might not be everyone's cup of tea... Sometimes it's good for us to get out and about and relax with a really good friend... And if that's something that people can't do personally... It can be quite relaxing to watch others like Bob & Paul together... Hi Mandy. This is a lovely show: it is slow paced but has plenty of friendly humour. Paul was in a comedy sketch show called 'The Fast Show' which is worth reacting to.

I've not actually watched this show but from this clip compilation and another I've seen, it occurs to me that it looks a bit like a real-life version of a programme called 'Last of the Summer Wine' that used to be on BBC1 on Sunday evenings and which centres around three older gentlemen getting up to various escapades in, I think the Yorkshire Dales.

It’d never occurred to me that people were wondering if your colossal knee-shaped mike was in fact an actual knee, but now that you mention it … Also you’d be amazed how hollow-sounding and echoey some knees are 😮 Tapping your knee-mike doesn’t rule out its knee-ness, or knee-osity, whatever the correct grammar is (knee-esque-ness?) as much as you might think. When Bob asks Paul how old his 'old fellow' is (at 4:45), he's using 'old fellow' in its British slang meaning of penis. 'Winkie' is another such slang term.

Its a great put on and forget the world show, it's nice to put your brain on hold and just watch without, There's something relaxing about watching two old friends (that you feel like you also grew up with) chat about nothing or just recall old stories while just falling on their arses when mishaps happens, like being a fly on the wall hanging around where old friends are just being themselves

I don't care much for fishing but these 2 old legends made it decent to watch. Just Like Top Gear, nobody watched it for the Cars just the humour which is really funny. It wasn't rib breaking funny but it was decent. I was thinking, if you can handle Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyles Riskiest Jokes. Not for the faint hearted looool. Hope you are well Mandy. It is strange but this is a fishing show that is essentially not about fishing. Both friends had serious heart problems and in this show they talk about health issues that older people face ( sometimes seriously sometimes just jokingly. Bob cooks some health conscious foods. One of the nice aspects of the show is the scenery set to calm serene music. If an old favourite worn out jumper with holes in it that you have had for 15 years could become a TV show, then it would become this TV show. Not flashy, but it jut feels right.

You should try to find the compilation of Bobs ‘falls’ - this show is the best. Pity you don’t see more of the ‘fishing’ the views of the British countryside are epic. Keep ‘em coming Mandy

It's not really a fishing show, it's a 'pair of old friends' show with the odd bit of fishing thrown in. It's beautifully filmed with some really poignant moments, wonderful scenery and loads of laughs. It's been an unexpected hit over here, with five series/seasons so far and more to come. Have a look at an episode sometime - it may well be 'up your wheelhouse'!!

This is the perfect show to watch when you get home clubbing and are too drunk or high to go to sleep. It has the same energy as Rail Away, which is just a show where you can see trains travelling through Europe accompanied with narration on the journey. It's gloriously boring, but at the same time the absolute best.

i know you love trying to guess the truth/lie on wilty, i have another challenge for you, there is a segment on an austrtalian music trivia show called substitute where someone sings a melody of a song but the correct lyrics are replaced with text from a random book. It's a lovely show. But if you want very silly... you need to try some Vic and Bob. Maybe House of Fools, Shooting Stars or even Vic Reeves Big Night Out. (I don't think I've seen anyone do a reaction to original Big Night Out, and someone really should!)

I’m surprised there wasn’t more of Bob falling over (he does it a lot) and I’m shocked that there’s none of Paul shouting “Don’t wind!” (another recurring theme). Yes, the fishing is incidental to a large extent, a bit like how Rocky isn’t really a boxing movie.

Also Paul is another British sketch comic who Vic and bob performing in london and got them set off on their comedy careers if i remember correctly

V good choice of show, tho I agree seeing just seeing funny short clips like this doesn't give the name much sense - originally started after Bob was diagnosed with a heart condition (had some pretty major surgery), wasn't in a good mental state after so Paul, as his mate and someone who's also dealing with health issues, offered to take him fishing as a way of doing so - this is the result. Not much content about fishing, though there's more in-show content of them talking while fishing and Paul occasionally throws in an interesting fact.

Oh, they do quite a lot of fishing and are happy as little children when they catch something, but fishingtalk is not especially funny. The in-betweens are. The secret is not even if you understand the jolly talk and banter, but simply the fact that two friends have a good time and a lot of fun together. Btw in the full episodes you get something extra: the beautiful countryside where they are fishing, rivers, creeks, lakes, streams, nature as we should keep it.
