This week we are excited to welcome Bob Myers to ‘The Old Mad and the Three!’ This conversation with Bob was everything we expected it to be, and more. JJ and Tommy open the episode talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s expectations for the playoffs and the MVP race. Bob and JJ discuss Bob’s time in the league as an agent (even as JJ’s first agent) and Bob’s various insights into that role, such as the complaints he got the most from players. Bob then got into so much about his time as General Manager of the Golden State Warriors. He talked about his lessons from the position and what it was like joining the Warriors when they had zero expectations, the contagious joy of Steph Curry, what it takes to be a leader in the NBA for both players and as someone in the front office, having Kevin Durant join the team, winning multiple NBA Finals, crisis management, and so much more behind the scenes insights. Bob and JJ also share their experiences calling games for ESPN. Then Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams joins the show for a check-in and a draft of movie houses to live in.

Brilliantly stupid. That’s not how bonsai trees are grown. You prune them every year or every couple years. Dude watched karate kid and thought a bonsai is some full time thing. You pull a tree from the ground and prune it and present it or you prune a baby tree every couple years. It’s not an active thing at all. Classic fake smart bs from a bser

Honestly, this entire episode justifies not needing the additional show with Bron. There’s MORE than enough basketball-related concepts through these episodes and series to get what the niche audience needs. Far too often Mind the Game is centered around Bron and his opinions, which can get exhausting… respectfully.

Fact is you did a great job putting teams together. I'd say that TEAM is the most important thing about basketball. See all the guys working together, everyone giving their best, playing in a manner that everyone excels -- those are the things that impressed me so much about the Warriors. That's what made me love the Ws. Ball is ball and it misses out on what is most important for us as a species except in the sense of building teams that excel. Steve, the big 3, but especially all the other guys -- Bog, Andrew, GP2, on and on. How they work together. How they make each other better, how they move the ball, how they play serious D.

I’ve gotta say, lately I have felt lonely, unmotivated, anxious, depressed. Even though I’m not an NBA player, I have so much to be thankful for. The early part of this conversation about what it takes to make it the NBA was really encouraging to me. Have to get lost in the grind, have to look for ways to make myself better, all while being thankful for ALL that I have. Thanks, JJ. May we not lose sight of the fact that sports is a great life teacher.

I think the latter is more important. With a team like that youre bound to get playoff experience. The celtics were that and have gotten playoff experience and it's only a matter of time before they win one imo. The bucks have much playoff experience but can't seem to get their coaching right
