I remember him on TV many years ago saying to "feel the club in your hands and the ground at your feet" as the essence of a swing motion. If my grip or any other body parts start to tighten up I always revert to this to regain my rhythm.

The book he co authored with Jim Flick in the 80's basically destroyed my swing for a number of years until I realized what he was selling wouldn't work for most golfers. He wanted golfers to set up with their weight favoring their right side on most full shots with a distinct tilt of the upper body to the right. He called this being in the K position. This makes it nearly impossible to get off your right side on the downswing unless you have perfect timing with each shot. Johnny Miller called this move "swaying and staying", which is exactly what I did. Even here on his practice swings you can see how much he sways off the ball to the right which is a death move for your average golfer, because you rarely get back to the same position you had at address so you wind up hitting from your right side instead of transferring your weight to the left prior to impact.

Assuming this was filmed in 2013 Bob was 87 years of age! He's 94 now and would probably still kick my ass on the course.😊

Bob Toski = finesse. His custom iron sets were very good. I still have an old set from the 90's for dry, hard courses that has very low bounce and plays great in the desert.

Nobody knew about the "d-plane" back then. That's the reason we hit the ball right of the target so often. Essentially the club face IS NOT SQUARE until it bottoms out in FRONT of the ball. That means at the moment of contact, the face is still open to the target line by just a bit. That "bit" is where he's hitting the ball to. To correct this he should be aiming a little left so the face IS SQUARE to the line at the moment of contact.

Odd (maybe oddly comforting) how much of Toski's recommendations sound like those of Brian Sparks (and now Julian Mellor); e.g. easy swing, moving lightly from trail to lead foot as if you were dancing. Sparks was and still is roasted by many "professional instructors" for being a huckster, offering snake oil to the amateurs who either can't or won't adopt the "proper" swing. Note I have absolutely NO affiliation with "Easiest Swing" other than noticing it a few years ago and buying the book. I'm just saying there's no one "right" way to swing the golf club and when instructors insist otherwise you should put your hand on your wallet, turn and run away.

Push and pull means you will be off plane. That idea would work if your shoulders never rotated during the swing. You should stay connected on the back swing.

What should the golfer be thinking as he makes the shift turn, NOTHING. That’s the problem with amateurs, thinking of all the complicated moves in order to hit a ball. Actually, you are not hitting the ball, you are swinging through it. Why do instructors want to make this so complicated, maybe it gives them job security. Many, many lessons!

I just have to ask if when you throw a ball overhand your eyes switch planes and that creates a movement that pulls the ball left (right handed) why then does every major league pitcher not miss the plate left and hit big pull slices on the golf course
@nicholasdemetriades9154
@nicholasdemetriades9154 Жыл бұрын
Simple. Think logically. If the golf club head was in your hand the task would be much simpler. Essentially in throwing over hand your hand is the club head.

That's not true...I just watched a physically inept man take my driver, swing it awkwardly and slowly, but still hit the ball just as far and straight as the average good golfer.

Definitely not true! 100% false. Why can I hit the ball just as straight or straighter with my eyes closed? Its a repeatable motion.
