Same here. I hate when people bitch about athletes getting paid so much. They’re the one worker’s union who’ve managed to get their due. I’d rather see the talent get the money than the wealthy owners.

I got to see that when I was just turned 4 at the time. I barely remember it, but I do recall the time I hit some guy in the leg with my wooden bat on accident and got lost in a sea of Bucs fans. Then later that night me and my brother were playing baseball in the house and I threw a pitch that went hey wire and broke the big screen TV. My mom and dad were pissed!

Bonilla was smart enough to take the money, in time, with interest. Most people would take the larger payoff. Including me. After watching this I will TRY to think it through if the opportunity ever comes. Well done Mr. Bobby Bonilla. If I ever win the lottery I probably won't listen, but I might think about it because of you!!!

What made the deal so terrible was the fact that Bonilla turned out to be a cancer on the organization. He's not the first player who didn't live up to a contract, but at least other busts actually TRIED to give teams their money's worth. He didn't give a fuck, and couldn't be bothered to do the bare minimum, which was to not be a negative source of news for the Mets.

Maybe. But if he was even a semi-shrewd investor, he would have been able to make MORE money himself. It was just 8% interest. The stock market increased by more than that on average. And if he was a tech investor and decided to put all that money on Amazon, Google and/or Apple, he could have paid himself TWICE as much money as the Mets are paying him. Pretty much for the rest of his life...not just 25 years.
@KnickKnack07

The funniest part of your dumbass comment is that your whole "defense" of the Wilpons is "Why would they do be it?" Why would ANY dishonest person do it? Again, please just admit that you don't understand Ponzi Schemes. Tell me you think Madoff literally took everybody's money and see it in his mattress. Because sorry little uneducated bit, the fact that the Wilpons invested do much money is actually a plus for MY side. You DO realize that Madoff himself invested a lot of money into the scheme right? The ones in on it HAVE to to both keep up appearances and to sucker more people in on it. The fact that they "gave" him so much money in no way shoes that they are innoncent any more than the fact thatadoff interested lots of money shows HIS innocence. And again, it is basking that this is apparently the first time you have ever seen this allegation. Lots of people have questions their involvement ever since it was revealed that they had "fallen" for an earlier one, and like this one, they knew the guy and got in early enough to make money. And hell...THIS contract suggests they knew. You don't make this deal unless you KNOW you have guaranteed higher than 8% interest returns coming from Madoff. And the only way to know for sure is to be in on it with your longtime buddy Bernie. If anyone with a brain (sorry to exclude you) has learned anything from following the Mets for the last 3 decades, it is that the Wilpons are NOT risk takers.
@KnickKnack07
@KnickKnack07 4 жыл бұрын
Pone...don't post when you are ignorant. Again..you worthless embarrassments to your family seem to think that I am the first one to come up with this theory. MANY people have suggested it. The Wilpons have a LONNNNNNG history of shady deals, including the one that was announced today that is costing the Mets their savior owner. Them trying to change the terms of deals that were agreed upon long ago. And only a fucking IDIOT gets fooled not once, but TWICE by CLOSE FRIENDS in Ponzi Schemes. Whereas, getting involved in Ponzi Schemes early to make money with your friends is EXACTLY the kind of thing they have shown they would do. Just because Vinny is a fucking idiot who doesn't understand how Ponzi Schemes work doesn't mean you should embarrass yourself too. Fucking hell...the prosecutor Picard all but came out and ACCUSED them to being in on it. And during the investigation, the Wilpons were caught in quite a few lies. Which is why he sought close to a billion dollars from them. So seriously...don't embarrass yourself by talking about something you know NOTHING about. You clearly haven't read a single think on the Wilpon/Madoff connection. So, be a good little boy and let the adults talk. So I will now tell you and Vinny the same thing your parents told you on your 15th birthday. I don't give a fuck that you are alive, so I will pretend you aren't.

@KnickKnack07
@KnickKnack07 4 жыл бұрын
Well, originally, they made far more than the 8% interest. It was a GENIUS move from their point of view. They knew their close buddy Bernie Madoff had a new investment plan. And even though the Wilpons had ALREADY been "scammed" by a good friend years earlier and were "victims" of another Ponzi Scheme, the went in with their friend Bernie. Well...I guess calling them victims was a stretch. Both times, since they WERE friends with the scammer, they were one of the first people investing (many people say they were in on it) and therefore, they made lots of money. It only became a bad deal when Bernie got caught and all the early investors who made money had to pay it back.

This would have been all right if Bonilla was productive and appreciated during his Met's tenure -- even, lo and behold -- the second subsequent opportunity. Obviously, the Mets need to learn: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" The Mets were a house that shame built. Why was he allow to come back anyway? Why did the Mets agree to this deal in the first place? Did they not have a bona fide accountant?

u mama As we know, Bonds’ physical stature and accompanying approach “evolved” thereafter. I was fortunate to see him and a number of future greats playing against the Bulls in the old Class A park in Durham. Strawberry, Dykstra, Gooden, and Chipper Jones a bit later, were some of the others. As a Pirates fan since ‘60, that interest added to knowing of Bonds’ obvious link with father and thus Say Hey himself. His warming up in the circle with a sledge hammer, his expressionless demeanor, and his terrifically hard line drives were all trademarks.

No...The Wilpons MADE money in the scam. They were great friends with Madoff and likely in on the scam. They only lost out when Madoff got caught and they had to pay it back. Hadthat not happened, the Wilpons would ahve made out like bandits in this Bonilla deal. And Bonilla could have made far more money had he NOT taken the deal and invested in in the upcoming tech stocks of the time. Like Google and Amazon. If he had split his money between those two company as soon as he got paid, he would be able to pay himself twice as much money as the Mets are giving him. And FOREVER. Not just for 25 years.

This is just scratching the surface when dealing with the Wilpons. Staunch democrat supporters! Just ask Bernie how he madeoff with their money.. Bonilla didn't spend but maybe 4 years with the Mets. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I know that there is a new owner looming but, time will tell even with the new owner. The Mets have ruined so many potential championship ball clubs in the past during the offseason. You've heard of the old expression 'leaving it out on the field'? Well with the Mets it's always 'they left it at the office' and while on their way 'throwing it under the bus'.
