Lyrics:
Every night I hope and pray
My dream lover will come my way
A girl to hold in my arms
And know the magic of her charms
'Cuz I want a girl
To call my own
I want a dream lover
So I don't have to dream alone
Dream lover, where are you?
With a love oh so true
And a hand I can hold
To feel you near as I grow old
'Cuz I want a girl
To call my own
I want a dream lover
So I don't have to dream alone
Someday, I don't know how
I hope she'll hear my plea
Someway, I don't know how
She'll bring her love to me
'Cuz I want a girl
To call my own
I want a dream lover
So I don't have to dream alone
Dream lover, until then
I'll go to sleep and dream again
That's the only thing to do
Until all my lover's dreams come true
'Cuz I want a girl
To call my own
I want a dream lover
So I don't have to dream alone
Dream lover, until then
I'll go to sleep and dream again
That's the only thing to do
Until all my lover's dreams come true
'Cuz I want a girl
To call my own
I want a dream lover
So I don't have to dream alone
Please don't make me dream alone
I beg ya', don't make me dream alone
No, I don't wanna' dream alone

ONCE UPON A TIME, I had more than 3000 records in my collection and, mostly from 1950s or early 1960s until my Evil and real MEAN and GREEDY brother stole them and sold for a fraction of what it cost me. My collection boasted about 2000 45s ( singles ) and 1000 33s ( Albums ) including more than 100 albums by Elvis Presley. Today that collection would easily be worth around £25,000 ( Twenty Five Thousand British Pounds ), or about $30,000. Some of the records were very rare, each one worth several Hundred Pounds

The song and the words "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin are an INSTANT recollection for me of my youth in the summer of 1959. I remember the dry heat of a Mediterranean summer (where I'm from) with Bobby Darin singing on the radio, with that charming voice of his: "Dream lover, where are you?... I wanna dream lover, so I don't have to dream alone." Unforgettable!

Born in 1960, I was born too late to have known these songs as they were released. but thankfully m mother and especially my father collected the records, both 78's and 45's and by the time I was 10 I was playing them, and loving a lot ot them. Of course I ended up loving Zeppelin, Floyd, and 70's pop etc, but these songs ring back so many wonderful memories of a trouble-free and happy childhood. Can you imagine what these artists would think of the ir music still being appreciated today in a format that was never even dreamed was possible?

I fell in love with beautiful girl in high school. We would go our own ways, after school. She looked me up many years later and dated again. She was my first love. I learned she passed away. I've missed her for years. I'm thankful I saw her out on the dance floor. She had the moves, to go with her looks. Love and miss you, Sandy W.❤

"60/70/80s" - You forgot the Fabulous Fifties. The 50s & the Swinging Sixties were the best decades of the second half of the 20th century. The late 70s were memorable for the Disco craze in nightclubs. As for the pop music of the 80s, I think it was rather bland compared to the dynamism, creativity, excitement, hope and optimism of the 1950s and early 60s.

Glad your Daughter love this type of music....it has soul, meaning, told a story and the singers actually sung the song. Unlike the CRAP there playing today, what do they call it now days. Oh that's right CRAP and they don't sing the song they speak it and nearly every song has the same beat, doof doof doof. So tell your daughter to keep listening to real music. 😁😁😁😁

I am 50y.o. and the Class of 90. I want to tell young teens that my high school in Dallas was dominated heavily by the 50s. Kids had clean haircut and hummed oldies. It might coexisted with glamour rock and alternative but oldies was the main stream. 98.7 KLUV ! Probably credited to the movie Back to the Future. I am forever glad I was in that kind of culture.

I grew up listening to this kind of great music and I'm only in my late 30's. This great kind of music only came over the radio, 8 track cassette tapes, and vinals/records/45's
