I think the best part about this is that his best memory wasn't with his wife or before he started hunting, it was with Sam and Dean.

I get what you're saying, that even though his time with Sam and Dean was surrounded by the war of heaven and hell, they were his world. They were his reason to fight, after everything else was gone GOD DAMN IT IM CRYING

I think it was his best memories to have because he finally proved his father wrong and finally had the kids he wanted but deep down was to afraid to admit that he finally got his wish

It speaks volumes that his best, his last memory of them was a simple memory. Not anything remarkable. Just a simple memory of them enjoying down time and bickering back and forth.

The simplicity was what made this remarkable, if you really think about it. Sam and Dean are both hunters meaning they don't get a chance to enjoy the more mundane things. It speaks volumes on Bobby's character to choose this is his best memory. It shows the love he had for his two surrogate sons. I truly think he never wanted them to be hunters (evidence in the baseball/catch flashback in the same episode) and sharing a pseudo family moment in watching Chuck Norris films with his two boys is something he would love to do because it was so simple

Such a simple scene, but so deep. Sam and Dean are just sitting down, watching movies and bickering like regular siblings. For a moment, they're "normal." That speaks volumes of what a real father would want for his kids who suffer so much. I think John and Bobby loved Sam and Dean just as much, but John forgot they still needed to be kids. He's the reason Sam and Dean will never really know what normal feels like.

I mean... on the one hand, John forgot they needed to be kids, but on the other hand he was the one who had to live with the paternal trauma of knowing a demon entered his house and came after his family (they always single out Mary in the list of reasons he wanted to hunt Yellow Eyes, but I’ve always thought he didn’t want to tell Sam and Dean that given that Azazel entered through Sam’s room, John probably thought the demon had come for him)

They kind of did still have moments but once they settled into the Bunker, the series just kind of became a drama show. Still watched it through but it just became a repetitive "I ain't gonna tell you my feelings" between the two.

The last memory that says so much. Out of all the memories he could have held onto, he is faced with a sense of normality. Sam and Dean are having a normal conversation, beers are passed out, and even a smidge of bickering occurs. Just shows how much Bobby truly loved his boys. John may have been their father, but Bobby was always their daddy. He cherished the down time, the ability to take a step back after all the hunting, to act like they're just guys. Something John never truly appreciated or held onto.

That last look into Bobby's eyes was what had me crying. I think this has to be one of the best episodes ever...god the angst, the story line, everything from the get go was just heart wrenching.

Peanut butter and banana sandwich is so much better with jelly as well. And as much as I love Dean I think he's insane for liking licorice. This scene is one of the best in the series I reckon. It shows a rare chance the boys had for a normal life, and it's the best way for Bobby to remember them.

I was so sad when Bobby died and the he came back and I was happy but sad becuse he was a ghost, but he was with the boys again so I was happy, then they burned the flask so I was sad that everyone was gone for those boys and then Dean and Cas, and then Dean came back but Sam never looked for him and then Cas came back but, but- I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ANYMORE D: This show. It fucks with my emotions!

@wittymama88 I don't think so. Bobby's a character who from the start, I knew would die a big emotional death. They can't just have this send off only for him to live. I think he'll die, but they'll still be able to talk to him every here and there. I doubt he'll choose to be a ghost.
