As an ex Navarra owner this is what I know.....the Navarra and pathfinder models built in Spain have this problem with the splitting chassis , the same two models are also built in Thailand for the Far East market and these vehicles do not have the same problem......!!!! After speaking to Nissan regarding getting my Navarra bought back from me because it was rotten I was told by the uk agent that the Thai built vehicles are not a problem because the chassis is built from a far superior stronger steel than the steel that is used to make the European models in Spain....!!! Make your own mind up......my Navarra was worth book price £ 12000 , Nissan uk bought it back from me for £ 8000 , I was not happy as you can imagine but there was nothing I could do about it so I had to take the money....!! No more Nissans for me....!!!

I bought one new in 2007 (never will I buy a new car again). It was faultless for close on 300k km. It towed all over ireland, got caked in mud, and came back for more. Cracking and folding is scarey. I'd hate to imagine it folding on me at motoerway speeds with the car trailers I hauled. Thanks for sharing. There are a lot of these in Limerick still.

Here in the USA, Nissan seems not to recall vehicles that need it. I own a 2004 Frontier, it has considerable rust on the frame, and the pickup bed is so rusty underneath I can poke a screwdriver through it. The years you mention for the Navarra, are the same ones here that had the transmission cooling lines break inside the lower radiator tank, mixing coolant with trans fluid, ruining the transmission. I hadn't heard a recall on this but lots of postings online of people who were out $4K for trans rebuilds. Got video, very informative. Thank you

Well done for highlighting this, I actually had one of these but found it ate clutches and was a poor and thirsty tow vehicle. The 2011 sprinter 316 I run now seems to have similar power and the weight distribution and handling better for towing, and fuel economy Farr better. These pickups just aren't built to be worked, a 2008 freelancer I recently drove was also a better tow vehicle than the navara!

wow....I bought a 2006 navara 2015 and had probs with uvjoint. maybe start of things to come. I will be on the phone to Nissan tomorrow. I have got mine to tow horses and last thing I want to do is put the horse in any danger. Thanks for this brilliant piece of information. Good luck to me.

Great advice for sure. Do you know are Pathfinders affected. Id hate to think the only reason mine is still in one piece is cos it has a one piece body and that is holding it together. Real disappointed I normally have Land Rovers and got the Pathfinder as I thought it was a little better made 🤣🤣🤣

I seen a salvage yard in Essex that had 40 nissan navaras all had been recalled , the salvage yard was exporting them to Africa , wasn't allowed to sell in uk had to be scrapped or exported...

This needs to be on watchdog or something similar. I will be double checking this when I do mots on them from now on

Ok guys, I have some other things to say on this topic. Nissan don't give you a new chassis. They have done it but not for long because of the cost. They give you a buy back but for a to small amount. The effected cars are from 2005 up until 2015. So all of the D40's could be effected. And then now the best part of it all, they rust from the inside out. I have seen boor scooped chassis that looked great on the outside but on the inside it was a nightmare. I drive one of those D40's and I'm scared as hell of it. It was intended to pull my caravan a couple of times a year and from time to time a trailer with a 2Ton load. Now I'm just scare driving it without my family, so what do you think how I feel with my wife and 2 children in it. I'm anxios something is going to happen. I have saved up to get a truck like this thinking it's a good truck. 2 years ago I got the money sorted out to get me this truck and now I have a truck I'm afraid off. I can't afford not having a vehicle, nor do I have the money to buy me another truck. I could sell it to another poor soul but that's just not me. But at the same time I'm scared to walk into the dealership as they can tell you your not getting it back and offering me the buy back which is too low. Third option would be, dismantle it myself en sell it in pieces but that's time consuming and then I'm out of a car. Too all who have seen this video. Please, if you know somebody who wants to buy a truck like this, tell them NOT to buy it because you don't want to get that chassis snapping on you while your driving 120Km/h on the motorway. It's a dead trap!!!!!!

Hi, I have a 2005 R51 Nissan Pathfinder for about 2 years now and recently I noticed a welded path at the back of the right chassis leg. Only this morning my pal told me his 2007 Navara on a recent inspection failed for rust in the same location as you pointed out in your video. MY question is, since I own a pathfinder and my rust in a different place, patched up and filled over, is my vehicle still subject to a fix or money to write it off. I guess ill bring it into Nissan and see what they say and let you know how I get on. Thanks

Hi I own a 2007 in New Zealand and have bad rust in chassis same place as in video and made in spain. NZ Nissan say I am the only one in the country and its rust due to my own fault driving on the beach now and again. How come then my exhaust is fine. That should surely go before the Chassis.

Nissans circa late 70,s and early 80s.....They tried high Carbon Steel for lightness and strength....great until you put any kind of water near to it. Bet all the Navarras that live in the desert are just fine?

Can a regular under wash reduce this issue with corrosion weakening the chassis? It seems that persons with this issue aren't regularly washing and protecting the underside of these navaras. This particular one makes the underside of mine looks almost perfectly clean, and I'm still going to get another wash soon. Currently a 2014 d40 owner

I personally own a 2010 Navara and we donn't have salt in our roads. But i see two problems in this vid pick up .One is rust. And Two it looks to me like metal fatigue. I have 80000 kms on mine ,and the only failure till now is the shitty fuel gauge and a front pair of shock absorbers. Any way if this chassis breaks ,nissan wont take any time to hear my complaints. I will have to live with it.Thanks for the upload.

Full box chassis need constant cleaning and waxoyl, add some low grade steel to mix and you have a guaranteed fail. Older Land Rovers where plagued by this as well, especially Discoveries rear section. Toyota’s in the US had a similar problem with there Tacoma’s, and Tundras/Sequoias made from 2005-2010 and rust proofed by Dana Holding of Ohio. Toyota will could end paying out approximately 3.5billion USD to settle the class action lawsuit.

Happened to my 2007 navara,failed its cvrt,nissan garages know about this but will not act until its found out,in my case they offered to send the nissan to spain and would supply me with another navara or scrap it and offered me 6,000 euro,i would not buy another vehicle from them,local garage owner did not give a shit

All cab chassis will twist & flex to a degree. But they should not break if the tow capacities are not exceeded. That's unacceptable bullshit right there.

Mate repairs are no good-it will keep rusting and will beak in another spot. I just found out mine had been repaired and I wasn't told at time of purchase so time to make a visit back to seller. Anyhow also the compensation they give are crap-if one has money then they will take it Im sure and get what they can-I don't have money and paid top for mine as has lots of extras and very low mileage. Underneath looks like it sat on bottom of sea floor for ten years. Nissan sub out to Spain to do and spain doesn't have salt on roads as no need for it. So there crap metal comes here and gets eatin up. Mine like I said is welded-I am not at all happy I have been driving my 9 year old daughter around in this death trap-this is insane. Heck Model Ts on the road ,same frames , but Nissan cant make one in a truck that's for work in UK to last 10 years. Serious!!!!

They are a rough riding motor too hard that could be why they crack back suspension way to hard horrible motors a thirst for clutches apparently

Cracks in Chassis is nothing new! I rust proof mr Chassis every five years! Especially if you're towing a boat!

These are shite. Read all the other reviews about engines and chassis. Fucking low mileage nightmares. I had big end go on less than 30000 miles. Power steering pipes rotting through.
