Love this. Playing the bodrhan has been great for my mental and physical health. I have been a guitarist since my childhood. I bought a bodrhan for one of children years ago which he plays well. At the beginning of the pandemic 3 years ago I put a guitar strap on it and started marching around the kitchen and later on the garden playing along to all types of music. Then I added a second heavier stick to my tonal hand and I would recommend this self music therapy to anyone as it gives me the greatest pleasure and now I can play in any trad sessions confidently.

I play from a wheelchair and simply don't have the balance to move much with my tone / skin hand, so I really love your unfussy push / pressure technique

Great masterclass!!! One day ( I don't remember his name) a famous drummer said about rythms, " if you can sing it, you can play it"

So many of these teachers seem to use the rod-type tipper. There must be something to that.

AS A PROFESSIONAL BODHRAN MAKER I CONSIDER MYSELF QUALIFIED TO ADVISE BODHRAN PLAYERS TO AVOID THESE TYPES OF BEATERS (they are not sticks) UNLESS THEY ARE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. BEATERS/TIPPERS MADE FROM BBQ STICKS SCRATCH,SCRAPE AND DAMAGE THE SURFACE OF THE SKIN

I'm learning the Boharan in England and the teachers Demonstrate how to play by showing how they do it but forget they know how to what about the pupils that know nothing about How to use the tipper

Lovely clear instruction Siobhán, but unfortunately your video has a synch problem. The sound is 5 to 8 frames ahead of the picture. The synch between the picture and the sound is never more important than when trying to learn musical skills. In rhythm instruction the eye informs the ear and vice versa. Is there perhaps something you can do to correct this? It's' not a small thing.

It’s perfectly synched when I watch it. No issues at all.

Nice playing, but I absolutely detest the bbq sticks.
