I’d really love a video on avoiding “The Frump” or looking dated. It’s one of my worst fears😂. If I’m honest, I’m old but don’t feel it, and don’t generally look it but want to keep it that way! I think there are a lot of us who feel like that.

In another recent video Melissa said that one of the things older women do that winds up dating themselves is refusing to wear styles or trends because they have seen them before. When I was younger I thought "frump" happened because of a refusal to accept the new. But now I see that it's more about knowing what that trend looks like when it goes OUT of style that makes me reluctant. That's helping me keep an open mind and be okay with revisiting things that went out and are now back, even if I remember the earlier trend.

@@mmpersonalstyling You definitely do deserve the praise Melissa. I came across your KZfaq videos fairly recently and you have really helped me to start to modernise my wardrobe (still a way to go). I have had too many dated clothes in my wardrobe. Tbh it has been quite difficult because I am not good at throwing things out, especially when they are in good condition (some things have holes in them which I keep for gardening!) but I have had 3 sessions going through clothes I have hoarded for years and have either thrown away or donated to charity a lot of things (still many more to detach myself from). I have also bought some new pieces you have showcased in various videos that I took on holiday with me recently and felt so much better about myself. I love how positive and supportive you are with your clients and how generous you are with your advice. Thank you and keep doing what you are doing because you really are making a difference to many women. xx

This was a great video. You could see Gemma's confidence growing as she looked so good in all of the outfits. She has a perfect figure so it made your job easy, but for someone who hates shopping I think you've now converted her and taught her what suits her, she'll be buying lots of fabulous outfits. Also I couldn't help but notice you two look like sisters.

I have heard different things about pants length and agree it's tricky. In the red pantsuit, I prefer a length between Gemma's and the model's. It's nice when the pants "break" at the shoe, just touching. If you go "as long as possible without hitting the floor" I think you lose the classic look and run the risk of looking shorter, really, like the pants are swallowing up the ankles and feet. It really varies case by case.

As always, excellent tips. I've been thinking about the "white shirt" you've discussed in a few videos. I realize that I went to the one decent white SS shirt I have all the time last summer. But I have trouble finding nice white shirts that have a little uniqueness or flair and/or that aren't see-through. Maybe a future video?

Interesting what you said about the way different brands fit body shapes. I don’t think high street designers cut for mature body types. I’m finding it difficult as what once suited me now does not leading to a loss of confidence. I do find your content helpful.

Gemma has a beautiful figure and it made it easier to style her I think. The linen jackets, all look great on her as well as the jumpsuits. The beige skirt was lovely and it suited her shape and height. Just my opinion the last pair of jeans were just too long. I would’ve rolled them up out instead of Tucking it in . Until your next video, I do enjoy watching you style your clients. I think your shape is as good as Gemma. 👍😊

I found this video so helpful thank you. One thing I did notice being similar larger bust wise but not a larger size in clothes is that there was no variation in tops for Gemma? I'm stuck with a white vest/ t shirt and I find that on a warmer day say once a nice jacket is removed it can look too 'basic'. I would love to see more options in that department if possible please 🙏 🙏

Love if you would offer a quick class on Linen. There are so many variables (with cotton) (with rayon) and 100% Linen. Looking for a functional pair of Linen pants for a cruise (to dress up or down) and the choices and price points are too confusing!

I really enjoyed this. The huge difference with the patterned top in the second outfit was amazing. I still have trouble remembering everything I should and shouldn’t do, even after doing the course and never missing a video! My style is admired though so I must be remembering something 😂. Gemma of course looked fantastic in everything. Looking forward to the colour course. I have been wondering about it because it was meant to be coming out ages ago, and I was excited about that one.

You are such a great teacher. I watched your videos today and I put things together in my wardrobe that I normally don’t layer ,thank you so much. I have a very basic classic wardrobe. The only thing I didn’t have was the crewneck white T-shirts so I ordered some .I have crewnecks in other colors, but not white . I have white v necks T-shirts… when you have a neutral wardrobe it all goes together really well ,you just have to find ways to mix and match it. I am 68 retired ,so I don’t do a lot of going out, but I wear a lot of casual nice outfits. Thank you so much.😊🇺🇸

Another great video with so many teachable points. I love that Gemma has a great figure but doesn’t know it and tried on so many things that she would never pick up… The dos - all wonderful. I almost loved the Donts more as they were very relatable - overly pattern tops, short lapels and wrong length pants all Learning points. I would add another Dont which would be black shoes (as per the model at Mango). Your videos are great Melissa and I love the always new ideas that you and your team come up with.

In all honesty you wouldn’t! It would ruin the look. Maybe a jumper thrown over your shoulders but the reality is you wouldn’t wear it, it’s more for the look!

So helpful! Even gorgeous fit women can look smashing in one thing, then matronly (mumsie in UK?) in a similar item but different style. Thanks to Gemma for being willing to show the less flattering options- totally illustrates the points! Love the slit skirts (the ✅option!) on Gemma and agree about the jeans! Those 70's front pockets are good on me- they add some interest to my very straight hips. And a flare (esp cropped kick flare) is a great shape on me (broad back, straight waist, small hips). Another amazing video as usual. I love the bright colors on Jenna. As someone who is only 5"1" and a larger chest also, I have never worn things that are big on me because I feel like I'm drowning in them. I am Kibbe body typed as a Soft Gamine. The style of clothing recommended I am going to incorporate a few pieces to see how I feel in them. Because of a shorter torso and larger chest, I have worn V-necks which is not my SG body recommendations. Higher colors and necklines for my body type are the best as it draws the eye up. If I do not feel good in them, I will probably have to break that rule, maybe go with a slightly higher V shaped neckline or possibly a boat neck.

I don’t agree with a lot of those clothing choices for your body type I’m afraid but if you find they’re working for you then that’s great. X

❤another fab styling session but as always id love to see what the client went home with 🛍👜 Hopefully the last pair of jeans, the last waistcoat, the light coloured blazer, the pale blue blazer, the cream trousers, the white vest top, the white tshirt, the paler blue jeans and the pale green skirt. I wasn't as keen on the black or the orange/red clothing apart from the orange waistcoat. I also find I can usually drop a dress size in River Island. Really enjoyed watching and appreciate all the effort put in ❤

If ever there was an advert for stylists this is it! 😃 I'm sure your fitness coach is thrilled with her new wardrobe. Great work Melissa (and team). Enjoy watching you so very much - as someone who loves clothes but is trying to shop her wardrobe rather than spend/consume, you bring joy to my life! and give me a marvellous fashion fix 😘; items or outfits from which I then feel inspired to try to achieve from my current (frankly plentiful) wardrobe! 🥰 [Just hit 60, but feel 30-40; a fortunate hourglass (now slightly heading south🤪🤣) and steering clear of the frump! 😂 x
