Blessed to have retired from one of the nastiest, most dangerous cities in America as an officer. Part of the reason is I never relied on a taser. Luckily, I never had to shoot anyone many many many many many close calls to Many to name. But until I could see someone’s hands, and they were not in a confined space where they could do things, I can’t see I was always ready with lethal force. Obviously, I’m very lucky to have made it to retirement, but the other reason was in all honesty, letting a lot of little shit slide and talking it out. Sometimes people don’t want to talk though. I tried to never look at anyone’s situation, and Monday morning quarterback, to speaking of my own reality. Got very lucky many times, but also tried to listen to people as much as possible and let people vent not take things personally or the ego driven. It’s a crazy world out there. Blessings to all.

@@user-dg9hl2me9jCan’t just let minor crimes go without punishment all of the time especially when the guy was driving recklessly and therefore suspected of DUI. You’re implying that they should have let him go after a potential DUI so that he wouldn’t get upset and escalate the situation to a degree that it certainly didn’t need to go to by shooting the deputies with a firearm. This is a ridiculous thing to say by you. Escalating the situation to that degree, shooting the deputies, the deputy passing away, then enlisting help from his idiotic family and therefore implicating them in relation to his crimes, these are all things that were entirely the idiot suspect’s fault. None of these things were the deputies’ fault in any way whatsoever. Silly ignorant statements like you made here are the kind of statements that help justify these kinds of horrible crimes in some people’s heads. That will lead some of those people to continue not accepting responsibility for their actions and behaviors, and maybe lead some to commit other horrible and senseless crimes such as this one because they think it’s justified and the police are harassing them when they are likely (certainly in this case) just enforcing the law, which is their job. You’re dumb.

For those that don’t understand, he didn’t shoot because of the weed, he shot because he’s a felon in possession of a firearm. They were going to find it, and he already has felony firearms charges and assault against his girlfriend, 3 strikes you’re out. He knows this and he was gonna spend the rest of his life in prison, he wasn’t going to let that happen without a fight. From his perspective it doesn’t matter if he’s going to prison for life for murder or a gun charge. It doesn’t matter because he’s already a violent criminal.
