Free stuff! Still trying to work on any form of handstand at the moment. It's taken a back seat for the last few weeks as I've been focusing on my mobility and following some of your routines. Seeing some good progress, but got a long way to go!

This is truth man, been doing handstands for a year, wasn't until last 2 months I buckled up and got serious and considerate, saw more progress in 2 months than I did in 8 months. Anyone looking to perfect this stuff, It truly does take dedication.

You're a wise man Tom. With your knowledge and humbleness I have no doubt you'll reach the OAH eventually. Also, I would love to see a video on how to increase shoulder stability, especially when there's a significant imbalance between sides. It would help me immensely, and others too I'm sure! Keep up the great work man.

Hey Tom , i feel your pain ,I’m exactly where you are with regards to shoulder flexibility , it seems like I’ve hit a massive plateau. I’m still ploughing through with flexibility drills but it’s hard going man , we’ll get there in the end though so keep it up 💪🏽👊🏽

I have pain in my shoulder every time i try to stretch overhead, do you know any low impact stretch or any exercise i should do to minimize the pain?

I got the handstand with little investment. On the other hand I have invested loads on hip mobility, and it's taking so much time. Different people, different struggles. But if we work hard, with a good process, it's a matter of time!

Tom Can you give a specific example of deficiency you had that was corrected by you doing the basics? Cause I don't do them unless maybe if I include them sometimes in a warm up.

soya just the tuck handstand, wasn’t good enough for a base for one arm. Or front lever, didn’t spend enough time with pull ups / weighted pulls getting strong ass lats to help development

Handstand Volume motivation boost. Thank you Tom :) Question tho, I have very poor overhead mobility, and handstands are pretty exhausting for me. Can i still freak up the volume?

kobr4h I spend more effort on getting the flexibility but this can be done through handstand training that is going to demand it (ie tuck work etc)

Great post! What are your thoughts about pelvic position in the tuck and the pike? Seems like going into a tilt and bringing the hips back will make keeping the shoulders open easier. Or should you try to keep a pelvic tuck with the pelvis in completely alignment over the shoulders ?

The only drill that gave you the feeling of balancing on 1 as a beginner is to walk up and down on blocks. My advice would be to focus on that over and over. I can now balance a straddle one arm for a few seconds after YEARS of struggle.

Hello, Tom. I have the same problem right now, just im not advanced as you, right now I can hold a handstand for 30sec max I think. But whenever im starting training my freestanding handstand after rehabing my shoulder for few weeks i feel pain in my left shoulder and bicep. Should i spend more time of practise standing with wall to condition my shoulders?

Augustas Našlėnas you want to fix the route cause of the issue. Likely bicep tendon is trying to do the job of the rotator cuff. Take your time to condition and get back to it :)

no, it s just a a matter of total protein per day/per week. He s choosing vegan proteins because they are way healthyer

The thing that's usually badly explained is the transition from the wall handstand into the freestanding handstand, that's what has been bugging me for the past half a year when it comes to my handstand progression!

@Alec Stern Wow mate, wasn't expecting a reply at all, let alone one as comprehensive as yours 😶 Anywho, as far as my capabilities go, I've no problem doing 5x60s with 90s breaks in between sets when it comes to wall handstands. As far as the back bridges go, I'm able to easily do one arm rotations into low/high bridge, an exercise that can be seen in Ido Portal's workouts. My conclusion is that I could potentially be struggling with balancing and, as much as I hAte to admit it, I guess fear From freestanding might also exist somewhere in me.

Alec Stern I believe I am using it but seeing as I'm not completely sure I might not have been aware that it actually has a name. Exiting for me is easy, although I find the cartwheel to be a hassle therefore I exit by spinning on one arm and jumping (never failed me in the past year). I'll try those drills that you've mentioned. As far as my other skills go, the ones you've mentioned are pretty weak: I can't do either one of those exercises, although the variations that I can do are pseudo planche pushups, tuch front lever, hspu negatives and as far as one arm pull ups go, I'm doing one arm assisted pull ups. I'd say my strength is a bit lacking., although I'm pretty good iun other techniques (I can hold a 15s L-sit easily, for instance).
