A Boeing 727 is extremly hard to find in year 2024. Luckily one of the last active B727` s showed up in my area last week and I headed to Niederrhein Weeze Airport to film it. I have never filmed in Weeze before but for this great looking B727 I had to show up at the small airport newar the dutch/german boarder. T2Aviation is the last operator of the Boeing 727 in europe and they operate two former Fedex B727`s. G-OSRA and G-OSRB both have the ability to spray a fluid out of the spraying device at the rear end. As the name on the plane already says the spraying device is there to fight Oil spills on the water in case of an emergeny. As far as I know both aircrafts operate for the british government. After M-STAR recently got retired these two B727` s are the last oeprating Boeing 727` s in Europe and it was a great pleasure to meet one of them at Weeze again.
Weeze is mainly know for the Parookaville Festival which takes place next to the airport. The only airline which has a small base at the airport is Ryanair. Not the Boeing 737Max at the beginning of the video. I thought it would be a nice contrast between the B737Max and the classic B727-200. Recently Air Arabia and Sky Express (Greece) also started flight to Weeze during the summer season.

I remember these 727s as a kid. They made a hell-of-a noise over our house in the 60s and 70s. ... like a rocket noise from behind!

It's great to see a 727 still flying. I'm old enough to remember flying on them as a much younger person.

Indeed! There a just a few active B727` s left in the world. Even in the USA they are getting extremly rare nowadays.

Growing up in a South Seattle suburb just a couple of miles from Sea-Tac Airport, I have lots of memories of 727s taking off to the south, heading towards Mount Rainier and sounding like a NASA moon launch. All conversation stopped if you were playing outside. Never dreamed I'd one day feel nostalgia for these smoky roaring beasts.

Very cool episode. The 727 is the plane that opened the skies to affordable travel. They are getting very rare. Great to see the old trijet.

So many beautiful 3-holers, even a Tristar. Wonderful video. Used to love flying as a pax on the 727. I've lost track of the different airlines I used to fly them on. (Even once on a Hughes Air West).

The #1 and #3 engines on all these 727s must be a re-engine. They look a bit larger in diameter than the original P&W JT8Ds.

3 were needed when introduced in 1964. Some of these are super27, One old school JT8D and two newer -200 JT8Ds. Hotrod 727s.

The video doesn’t do the 727’s volume justice. In the ‘90s I remember them being so incredibly loud on departure and climb that you thought they’d actually cleave the atmosphere itself- and they all had mandatory hush-kits by then…

Yes, I agree. These B727-200`s of Oil Spill should have hushkit engines.
